I think Lex is pretty much a given. So, the other choices are in addition to Lex. I think Metallo would be the best villian for the film. Lex would be the main villian. The mastermind. But, Metallo/Corben would be the physical threat. A Sidious/Darth Maul (or Vader) type of relationship.

The sequel should ahve supergirl in it, with Darksied as the baddie. Just my opinion.

I'm going with Darkseid. Here's the deal: Darkseid attacks Earth and Superman is the one man who can stop him. I'd like to see some cameo appearances of other heroes, ie Batman. In this attack, Supes and Lex would have to form an uneasy alliance to take down Darkseid and his goons...

Lex should be the villian, maybe with one of the others showing up.
Here's my big question: What variation of Lex should be used? The Lex from the first movies where he's a supercriminal and not so much a leader of industry or the Lex that is mega-rich and has his hands in everything (both legal and illegal). I kinda like the mega rich Lex. The way he was portrayed on Lois and Clark and on S:TAS seemed to be the best way, IMO.
If Darkseid could be done right, his character would be cool, but would that alienate those who don't know of him? People know of Superman and Lex Luthor, but Darkseid? I'm not sure. I'd love to see an epic-type film dealing with Doomsday, but could he be done properly?

I'd like to see a movie version of the Death of Superman. Or even better, a trilogy covering his death and return. So like Kal-el, I think I'd like to see Doomsday, with maybe the Cyborg being the ultimate villain.

Before you go for characters like Darkseid or Parasite or even Toyman, you have to establish the relationship between Superman and his arch-villain, Lex Luthor. Luthor has to be the first villain...and it can be done without anyone else (look at the episode A Little Piece of Home).

I think Brainiac would be a great villian, with Lex in the movie also. The Braniac from the animated series is my favorite version of him, and the way he ties into Superman's home world would be a good and familar starting place to use for the first movie of any new franchise they might start. Darksied for the second one tho, oh yeah!

I'd love to see something with Doomsday, Brainiac (the S:TAS version was very well done), or Darkseid (also the S:TAS version). That being said, would they be as recognizable, or as marketable, as Lex Luthor would be? I figure Warner Bros. wouldn't want to restart a Superman movie franchise by putting a lessor known villian against Superman (1st Batman movie had his most recognizable foe...the Joker). Wouldn't Luthor be the most logical choice?

I'm down with this idea, although Karkull makes a good point in that Luthor should be developed first. Him joining with Superman would have more effect if we saw how bitterly against each other they were in the 1st movie.

Brainiac--but the whacko ex-carny hypnotist from the comics rather than the android in the animated series.

Darkseid would be great, in my opinion. He's one of Supes' most imposing and cinematic baddies.

I love Darkseid, but I think for a movie Brainiac would be the best choice. A lot of people will only have know the Christopher Reeves Superman movies (I think) so it would take a lot of movie to explain Darkseid--and not so much for Brainiac--but I could be wrong. ::shrugs shoulders::

p.s. I'm still waiting for Batman to recover after his last two movies.

Brainiac would be easier to explain, but Darkseid would be more interesting and involving. I don't think it'd take too long. They'd have to revise things a bit, but that's about it.
