I'm going to be conducting a phone interview with Dave Bossert, co-producer of the Walt Disney Treasures "On the Front Lines" set and I was wondering if anyone has any questions they'd like to ask him. I need them by Friday morning.
Here is some information on Mr. Bossert:
DAVE BOSSERT - Co-Producer of "On The Front Lines," he is a 20 year
veteran of WD Feature Animation who has worked on such films as Beauty
and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Aladdin,
The
Lion King and more. Bossert is responsible for much of the archival
research and development of "On The Front Lines," in getting the
material from the Disney Vault. He has great insight/stories about how
the "On The Front Lines" came to be released (with the declassified
material, etc) and info about the historic nature of this piece of
history.
Thanks!

Were you ever afraid that, after both of the times the set was delayed, that the set would end up canceled?
Did Disney make it mandatory that certain cartoons have a Leanord Maltin introduction, or were they just added to make the set easier for Disney to approve for release?
Did Disney suggest that any cartoons be released impartially or censored at first?

If it's not strictly pertaining to the Frontlines set and if he has any input into subsequent Treasure sets, I'd be really interested to know what's in store for future waves in this series... What other sets are being considered, how many future waves are anticipated to be released, whether we will ever see an educational-themed release collecting all of Disney's educational shorts and mini-features (Donald In Mathmagic Land, Goofy's Freewayphobia, etc) along with the Jiminy Cricket short series and other cartoons produced for the classroom spanning the mid-50's to mid-1980's... Also, the chances of us seeing a collection of assorted cartoons (Pigs Is Pigs, Susy The Little Blue Coup, Lambert The Sheepish Lion, etc) as well as the one-shot character shorts (Humphrey The Bear, Figaro, Chip 'N' Dale, etc)... and finally a collection of vintage black and white Disneyland anthology shows?? Also, inquire about the limited availability of these sets and why Disney chose to release them in such context and whether they ever ran into any difficulties greenlighting some of the more controversial content?

Greg-
I do have a few questions for Dave Bossert.
1.How did "ON THE FRONT LINES" come about?
2.What was the cause the first delay of OTFL that would have been a part of wave2?
3.What kind of surprises can we look foward to seeing on OTFL set?

Ask him if the first two waves will ever be re-released. It's amazing what Mickey Mouse In Living Color brought last time I checked. I got mine for only $56!

Greg, could you also ask him if there are any plans for a second volume of the Silly Symphonies? There are so many great shorts from that series that didn't make the first set.
Thanks ;)

1. How does the Disney archive compare to other studio's archives as far as condition of material and abilty to locate material?2. What were the limits on the project as far as running time that could be placed on the discs.
3. Did you have to clear any of the material through the defense department?
4 Will Disney ever release their VD films through Disney Treasures?
I have a couple of questions which might be interesting to ask:
1) What impact has Roy Disney leaving the company made on the Treasure series?
2) Is it likely that material from uncompleted shorts and films could be included as extras on appropriate future releases?
Thanks!

At one time, the Disney studio would edit their own shorts pending re-release. Upon editing, has the offending piece of film ever been removed from the completed short, and, if so, have some of these been found to be missing when the techs for the Disney Treasures series have tried to include them back into the original cartoon? In other words, are there any parts of these shorts that were included in the original release that have been lost over time?
Also, what methods did Walt use to preserve his many films?
How much restoration did these shorts require?

I appreciate all of your help. I would really like to keep the questions relevant to the "On the Front Lines" set and possibly his career at Disney. Thanks!
