I don't know what got me thinking about making this a topic on the boards, but what is the strangest food you like that other people you know would just turn their nose up at? And it doesn't have to be anything exotic. My favorite food that seems to make other people I know go ewwww is a peanut butter, baloney, and cheese sandwhich. In fact, I am very much craving one right about now!

In elementary school I used to buy ice cream sandwiches and pizza and make ice cream pizza! This was probably kind of inspired by the Ninja Turtles and kind of inspired by the fact that I knew that it would gross out the girls. They thought it was yucky so I was happy. :D It tasted pretty good to be honest with you! I also used to eat stuff like baloney and sweet-and-sour sauce sandwiches and cold (but previously cooked of course!) hot dogs.

Well, you've got me beat on the odd food items. About the weirdest thing I eat is chicken nuggets in a hot dog bun topped with chili, honey mustard, and onions, with some dark russet potato chips on the side. Mmmmm....

You bet, you can add other ingredients if you want. Also, you drain it first, of course.

I don't have the most diverse palet(sp?) in the world, but I did have chocolete chip pop-tarts this morning. It is basically a cookie in the shape of a pop-tart.
I enjoy peanut butter, jelly, and potato chip sandwiches. It's the perfect blend of salty and sweet.
When I go to Wendy's I like to dip my fries in my frosty. I showed this to all my friends and now they like it, too. Has anybody else tried this before?

I think I have done something like that before, but it might have been a different shake and fries. Rest assured, I will do that at my next voyage to Wendy's!

Ever tried a salty pretzel with chocolate sauce? Mmmm....
Pickle juice isn't bad either. Sour pickles... not the sweet ones, I don't like those.
I've never dipped fries in a Frosty before (I'll try that next chance I get!) but I have dipped them in honey mustard and sweet 'n' sour sauce. :D

The weirdest food I've ever tried is chocolate covered tuna. It was a recipe from the Iron Chef book. It was suprisingly tasty.

Ya know what's good? Take carrots and dip 'em in leftover pickle juice. That's yummy stuff! I haven't had it in years though. Everytime I think of it we've still got pickles in the pickle juice.

I don't buy much broccilli, but I'll try it if I can remember to.
Every product (especially meat products) must be dipped into the Bar-B-Q sauce I hold so dear.

I guess the occasional pickled pig's foot isn't as odd as it used to be. And there used to be a Chinese restaurant here that served prawns and walnuts with a kind of mayonnaise, but they've been closed for years.

Oh, I almost forgot - want a very quick, very easy caramel dip recipe?
Take equal amounts of brown sugar (I used the light kind) and sour cream. Teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, it doesn't matter, as long as you have equal portions of the two ingredients. Then mix the sour cream and brown sugar together.
Voila! A dip that tastes just like caramel! You're gonna like it - I gar-on-tee! :D

You realize that peanut butter, cheese, and sour cream are the best ingredients to go with anything? That's why those often wind up in our strange recipies!
Another thing that goes with alot of different foods is ranch dressing. Fries taste great dipped in them, so does eggs, and toast, and pizza. In fact, ranch dressing with pizza is the best way to have pizza!

My friend likes dipping grapes in marinara sauce.
Hmm.....I'm not much of a weird eater, although some things of Chinese cuisine are kinda strange.... snake, frog's legs, chicken feet, tongue of bull.... wahahaha, I sound like I'm listing ingredients for a spell.

Try putting Tzatziki on your hamburger...as you americans call it or know it as the greek white sauce :D

--querida, and raise you a big ol' glob of bean dip. Yummy.
And like Nightflower, I'm taken with Chinese food. With me it all sort of gets mixed together on my plate, from the moo goo to the General Tso chicken to the spicy beef and pork. It's not my combinations that really shock people, it's the sheer amount I can gorge myself on in one sitting....
Another interesting taste combination is cinnamon waffles, scrambled cheese eggs...and a big fat dill pickle.
Last night, being short on beverages, I mixed one-third of a glass root beer, 1/3 orange juice, and 1/3 Mountain Lightning. Still working on a name.

Tzatziki! Them's good eatin'. I used to work at a greek restaurant, and I developed a taste for that and feta cheese. Hmmm, I'm going to have to make a Tzatziki and feta burger sometime.
Or just get some spanikopita (sp?). I love that spinach pastry...

I must say out of all the weirdness, there are one or two creative yet normal items on this little menu that sound pretty damn good. Like Flhero's for example.
And yes, ketchup (or tomato sauce, depending on the food) should ALWAYS be at your side when sitting down for a meal!! I got that from my dad. :) Oh, speaking of which, same thing with grated cheeze on any italian food (well except chicken parmasian, of course, cuz you don't need it).
The weirdest thing I do is sometimes for my french fries I'll have a little mayonaise on the side for occasions, as you would with your ketchup blop on the side. Now, with such a variety of cultures and posters I'm sure to some of you that doesn't sound weird at all, for example in Canada or parts of Europe. But from the data I've gathered, Americans don't always go down the path of mayo on everything.
I'll tell ya though. I must have grown out of that "real food with potato chip type food mixed" phase unscathed because it sounds like a grotesque idea! I never got into it. Yikes! Hey, to each his own! Enjoy!!

Heh. My Irish grandmother (now deceased) used to try to get me to put butter on practically everything. You'd always get suggestions to put butter on your bread, veggies (potatoes and otherwise), meat, whatever. I'd do it just to keep her happy. Not that I minded too much, just that it wasn't something that I'd normally do. Not exactly the healthiest idea, especially for a group of people who are already eating mostly meat and potatoes. :)
Does anyone else with an Irish background know if this is a common practice? I wouldn't be surprised.

Well, not all! I like mayo with my food too. In fact, just Friday I was eating some fries with my lunch and had mayo mixed with ketchup to dip them in. Really good! One of these days, I am going to take all those packets of sauces they have at the fast food place and mix them all together to see what taste we get!

How about wierd pizzas? When I worked at a grocery store in Minnesota, I was all the time thinking of new pizza toppings I could use, and one of my all time favorite was chicken enchelada pizza, which is not all that hard if you get some corn starch to thicken the sauce so it doesn't drip off the crust. But I didn't know anybody who thought chicken on a pizza was a good idea.
I've also made a kick ass breakfast pizza with the same sauce you use for eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and your choice of sausage or ham. Not wierd, but damn good!
I make a great bacon cheesebuger pizza too, which most people I know think is wierd, but not really, it's just pizza with hamburger and bacon and cheddar cheese.
But the wierd pizza entry idea I have that makes 90% of the people I tell about it squirm is a coney island pizza, with chili and hot dogs and cheddar cheese. There is no way that would ever turn out bad!
And of course, for every pizza, you have to use Boboli pizza crust!
