Written to a conservative audience, but still worthy of note to all, IMO. :)
What is a moderate?
I don't know anymore. I used to think a moderate was a person who rode the fence, but they did it sincerely. Sometimes they were conservative, sometimes liberal, so the math left them in the middle. Like a positive 2 plus a negative 2. But now the terminology has changed and that moderates of yesterday are more like independents today.

Today there's a new kind of moderate. The kind who says, "How far to the left or right do we have to move for a victory?". These are people who's priority isn't the cause of conservatives or republicans, but the cause of victory. The numbers game. Instead of asking "what do I believe" they say "What can I believe to persuade people to vote for me?" Sadly, I see this all too often in California politics, where numbers are everything and republicans are willing to be whoever they need to be to get the democrat electorate to vote for them. But if we move to the left for democrat votes...haven't we just become democrats? Can anyone name any politicians that they think are true moderates, and explain why they think they are moderates?
