I, as I'm sure, all of you, enjoy writing Fanfics..and sometimes even my own little movie scripts. Anyway, with the recent premier of Smallville, I believe the chances are good that WB will pay more attention to the long-time-in-limbo Superman movie. And I, for one, have started writing a new script of my own(just for fun..you know)
Anyway...my point..
It's time for a CASTING CALL!
If WB decides to FINALLY get the go-on with the Superman movie..who would you like to star in it?
call me crazy...but I can kinda see Bruce Willis as Lex...remember..I am crazy...

I'm a staunch believer that Tim Daly should be Supes. He looks and obviously sounds the part.

ed harris. i like that. he can be ruthless and calculating as well as caring and compassionate. i think the duality of the character is important. (although, i loved hackman's luthor.)
lois, don't kill me but i think sandra bullock or what's her name from friends. y'know the dark haired one.
seth green as jimmy olsen. i know i'm predictable.
as far as superman goes, hmmm, i'll have a couple more beers and get back to you on that one.

A few years back, I thought either Courtney Cox or Kim Delaine from NYPD Blue would be good Lois.' But now; Alyssa Milano. She's the right age; late twenties. She looks the part. She's feisty; and she's short, so the guy playing Superman/Kent will look even bigger by comparison. And the aforementioned "guy," playing Superman, should be:
NOT, Russle Crowe!!! (Good Actor, but, eh.)
NOT, Dean Cain!!! (Had his shot; not enough presence to star in a feature.)
And NOT, NOT, NOT, Ben Affleck. (Do I really need to put anything here?)
I used to think Brenden Fraser was perfect for the part, back when George of the Jungle was in theatres.
Now; I don't really know. WOW! That was anticlimactic! What the hell; get a relative unknown. It worked before.
Lex - Billy Zane. He's big; he's buff; he's bald for peat-sake! And he needs a high profile role. Where's he been since Titanic?
Jimmy Olsen. I'll say only one thing on him. He NEEDS to be played by a white guy. He's a nothing character. He doesn't even need to exist in a Superman film. Making him the tolken "ethnic" character would be very insulting and cheapen the film.
Perry White - Morgan Freeman.

Said it before, say it again: Brendan Fraser as Superman!!!
As for the rest, I'm not 100% sure. I'd like to see Sandra Bullock as Lois Lane, but don't know how well that'll work. Seth Green as Jimmy is a good choice. I know a guy who could play Perry White, but can't for the life of me think of his name. Lex would have to be someone who just gives off a creepy vibe, but there again, I'm not sure who could really pull that off well...

I guess the casting would be easier if everyone knew the direction for the next film (whenever it shows up). Will it be darker and more somber, Trying to be a very serious superhero action movie? Or will it be lighter and more comedic, with tongue-in-cheek humor more common. I would think a lighter film would be more compatible with younger actors.
I do like the choice of Alyssa Milano for Lois Lane. I've always been a fan of hers, and she fits the part pretty well (and, she looks like she could be Teri Hatcher's sister...so it would just be interesting, or weird).
Seth Green for Jimmy Olsen isn't too bad a choice.
Lex is a tough one for me. I can't think of anyone that really does it for me.
Supes is the toughest. Big name actor versus relative unknown witht he look. That may be the question.
Russell Crowe...no way
Ben Affleck...don't think so
Brendan Frasier...might work alright
Dean Cain...don't think he can pull off Supes on the big screen
Tom Welling...maybe in 5-10 years
Nicolas Cage...could they have been serious?
Is there an unknown guy out there doing only Gillette or toothpaste commercials that would work or one toiling away on/off broadway? Who knows?

I honestly can't think of anyone to play Superman. No one has that look.
As for the supporting cast, I saw some great ideas here:
Lois Lane: Alyssa Milano
Jimmy Olsen: Seth Green
As for Luthor, I'd have to go with Kevin Spacey. He's about the right age, he can be ruthless and evil, he looks good bald, and he's a great actor. Plus I don't think that they'll go camp if they choose him.
As for Mercy Graves, may I suggest Famke Jansen?

Superman - An unknown. Goes with the idea of him being an alien. If a huge star played Superman, we'd never be able to dissect their persona from the part.
Lois - Unsure. Someone who's tough and sassy yet very soft and emotional at the core. Can't say.
Lex- So many people could play this part, I can't decide.

Brendan Fraser? Sure, in the Mummy he showed how "big n' buff" hero style he can be. And in "Bedazzled" & "Blast from the past" he showed how...uhm...geeky he could be. As an ACTOR, I think Brendan could pull off superman really well, but I just dont think he has the right look.
Nick Cage..Thank God I'm not the only one who thought that was TERRIBLE casting. I think he was only suggested for the role, because he was "really big" when the supes movie was first announced.
Lex, I really can see Kevin Spacey as Lex..yeah. But remember, this is based off of a comic. So, the appearence of the movie matters a lot. And they'd most likely chose someone who looks more like the tv sho lex, now. So..Billy Zane sounds like a good candidate!
Alyssa Milano as Lois is PERFECT!

i think dean cain has proven himself as a good superman, but warner probably would want a fresh start. go with an unknown that looks the part, but has the acting skills of chris reeve.

The Cast of Superman: Year One
Superman/Clark Kent- Dean Cain
Lois Lane- Courtney Cox Arquette or Jeri Ryan
Lex Luthor- Kevin Spacey or Scott Bakula
Jimmy Olson- Chris Klein
Perry White- Gene Hackman
Pa Kent- Clint Eastwood
Ma Kent- Sissy Spacek
Jor- El- Tim Daly
Lara- the chick with the brown hair from "Farscape"
Bibbo- (while losing train of thought) the guy that played Hagrid in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."
Braniac- Leonard Nimoy or Jeremy Irons
(If the character was CGI then the voice could be done by Christopher Reeves, now wouldn't that be interesting.)

I like the idea of Tim Daly playing Superman. He could do it.

Oh, man - Tommy Lee Jones as Perry White would be PERFECT.

I personally would like Ed Asner as Perry White. He'd be great as the hard-nosed "chief" to Clark's farmboy. Remember his voice work as J Jonah Jameson from the Spidey cartoon?

Superman/Clark Kent: Tom Welling. Heck, he already plays the part on Smallville, so why not give it to him for a live action movie? He looks more the part then Dean Cain or Nick Cage. Just give him the suit and classes, and I am sure he can play the mild mannered reporter Clark Kent. Might need to bulk up for the Superman costume though.
Lois Lane: Either Buffy from Scary Movie (don't know the name of the actress), or Alyssa Milano. Either one could play the part well, IMO.
Perry White: Ed Asner, or that guy who played Richard Nixon in Dick(don't know his name).
Jimmy Olson: Seth Green, I guess.
Jonathan Kent: Mike Farrell
Martha Kent: Sissy Spacek, I guess.
Jor-El: Tim Daly is an interesting choice.
Lex Luthor: Billy Zane.
Brainic: Kevin Spacey
Darkseid: Micheal Ironside
The rest, I am not sure of.

How about Patrick W. ( also known as the TICK)
Hes got the look , the chin , and hes the perfect height
and build.
Hes my top contender right now for actor who has the
look and physique to play the man of steel.
~
Brendan Frasier - please dear god no!
That would just be a disaster.
~
What about Joalene Blalock (or whatever) from
Enterprise ...as Lois ?

I too thought of Patrick for an older Supes. I've never actually seen him do drama though. Can anyone recommend some serious acting pieces with him?

Im sure Patrick would be able to play it straight convincingly ...
Im sure hes a better actor than Brandon Frasier.
Plus - Patrick W. has allready played Superman once.
25 points to anyone who can name where Patrick played Superman.
