Okay, this is sort of rough at the moment, as it's depends on how many want to be apart of this months Jam.

What we need - as you know I said this was DB orientated - is some images for the background tiling of the Drawing Board AND Story Board.

You see, the Story Board is working on a revamp and will in future be working for a stronger tie with the DB (since idea and design go hand in hand), but both need an identity.

You know we tried to transform this board recently but we just couldn't get it together. We decided this was the wrong approach. We love Magwheel's design (as did the SB crew, one of which wanted to steal it) and we hope to use it maybe at the Drawing Board Website for a special section.. but we realised we needed something more in keeping with the DB Website and Toon Zone.

So... here's the details.


We will ask for a sign up period. People who want in will have till next week to sign up.

We will take the drawings and make a background from them. We will be decking out the DB and the SB - if we have an overflow of volunteers we will deck out the Workshops, if we have too little, the staff will work overtime *shrug* as I said, we have to feel our way through this one.

Once we know how many peeps we have, we'll asign them to work on the DB or SB background. No preferences, it will be out of a hat - proverbally.

For the DB we will be looking for a character of your choice in some feat of art. I leave the details ENTIRELY up to you. We want them to somehow reflect art - be it they are drawing, dressed in a paint soaked apron, holding a full size brush... you get the idea.. up to you.

For the SB we want someone in some feat of writing. Again, any character you wish, Batman, Cloud Strife, SJJ, The Bogeyman, Howard Stern... we don't want to restrict your artistic ability!

So once we close the entrance period we will PM you with your assignment - SB or DB and then you'll have to the end of the month (or there abouts - a date to be defined) to finish. Colour if possible. We will then look at a montage and your work will be displayed forever!!!!*

This is an important comp for TZ as we want to give the SB and DB both apart as creative areas. We hope to entice writers and artists to occasionally browse both forums as both types of people - as cartoons and comics show - can help each other dynamically.

Any comments, ideas, throw in this thread also.

Dude, I'm so in on this, I'll do some for both the SB and DB if need be.

So, by saying "in a feat of writing", you want a pic of someone in the process OF writing, or just something that pertains to writing, or what? Maybe I'm closed-minded (or just temporarily blind), but getting 15 pics of different characters with a pen in hand sounds too similar. I must be missing something.

Either way, put me down, man. I'm so in.

I don't mind the idea of people doing two, as long as all those who request in get a spot. We do have a rough number of places (too many pics and we'll have two cluttered forums) but I think we can accomodate all and maybe then some.. we'll play it by ear for now!

Well this isn't my ball but since there's nobody else in here right now I'd say wait until you find out whether you've been allocated to either the Drawing Board background group or the Story Board background group before you start off

From this I'd say that if you were allocated to the DB group then yep you could do Link holding a paintbrush although as SJJ says it would be nice to get a mix of artistic themes instead of everyone holding a paintbrush (or as Tim says with the SB group, everyone holding a pen.) There's absolutely nothing wrong with either of those ideas but it might be extra cool to think of an alternative too just in case everyone plumps for the same thing (again not that there's really anything wrong with that either, it makes for continuity I guess!:D

I don't quite understand the idea. If I draw a fullsized picture of a character drawing/writing, how would it be applied to a background? Like, I already have an idea that would have a joke, but if the picture was shrunken to tile like the Marvel or Comic boards, the joke would be lost. I'm interested though. But don't officially put me down. This, the idol contest, and end of my school year? I'm not that productive!
