For years now, I have watched a plethora of Hanna-Barbera shows which have been butchered from their original 60-minute length to a half-hour stretch. Well I say that it's high time that Turner took the initiative and restored these shows to their original hour-long form, including original opening titles, wraparound segments (if any), and original end credit titles.

I speak, of course, of the following HB compilation offerings which once ran for 60-minutes:

The Banana Splits Adventure Hour
The Flintstone Comedy Hour
The (New) Tom & Jerry/Grape Ape Show
The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour
Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics (I know! I know its 120 minutes, but it deserves special mention, too!)
The All-New Super Friends Hour
The Skatebirds
The Godzilla Power Hour
The All-New Popeye Hour
The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show (And Scrappy, Too!)
The Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show

(And others too numerous to mention; if you can think of more, please post 'em!)

It would be really cool to see these hour-long H-B shows in their original hour-long form, before the syndicators got their hands on them and chopped them to bits (if not for air, then release on VHS and/or DVD). I have already seen Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics original main titles (and the end-titles of Scooby's All-Stars) on VHS, and I remember how the original titles to The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show (And Scrappy, Too!) and The Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show went. After the great pains Turner has endured in replicating the original Paramount titles to Popeye cartoons (a great job they did, too, in restoring the 1953 "Stereotoon," Popeye, The Ace Of Space!), I feel they owe it to us viewers by restoring the original 60-minute editions of the Hanna-Barbera 'toons I mentioned.

I've learned that there are VHS copies of 18 original The Banana Splits Adventure Hours in the hands of a few collectors within the public domain videotape circuit, as well as virtually the entire 1977-78 ABC run of The All-New Super Friends Hour and 1 hour-long segment of CBS' The Skatebirds. And the original theme from The Flintstone Comedy Hour is available on Rhino's Hanna-Barbera's Pic-A-Nic Basket Of Cartoon Classics.
