Forget about The Lord Of The Rings Trillogy game that EA was planning on doing. In fact, forget about the hack-n-slash gameplay from EA's previous two LOTR titles. That's because the next LOTR game from EA will be a straight-up, turn-based RPG set within the movie trillogy. Welcome to The Third Age.
LOTR: TTA will follow events from the movies, but will approach them from a different POV, as you follow an entirely original group through Middle-Earth, experiencing completly original quests (created specifically for the game) and side-missions from Saurmon's POV. While you won't begin with the Fellowship, they will make an appearence (along with every single character from the movies) and your group will experience their battles (like the confrontation with the Barlog and the battle of Helm's Deep). Game specifics, from the gameplay engine to the question of whether or not the Fellowship will become playable and from online play to GCN/GBA linkage, are not yet revealed.
The Third Age will debut this fall for Xbox, Playstation 2, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance.
You know it will be at E3 this year.
