So what did everyone think of Smallville's second eppy?? I for one loved it!! I think that this has the potential to be a really good show. The actors and characters are great, though I do hope they break away from the Villian of the wek formula. Bug Boy was kinda creepy this week, and I hope he's gone for good. I also like the neat references to Superman like the fortress of solitude this week and the red towel(cape) last week. Anyways, thats about all for now. what did you think?? :)

I really liked it, too, but I agree that the "villain of the week" thing is going to get old fast, especially if they are all somehow contrived from the whole meteorite/radiation thing. Both episodes so far, the relationships between the characters, Clark, his parents, Lana, Lex, Whitney... have all been far more interesting and enjoyable than the villains, who seem just kind of thrown in there to make it a "super hero show." Don't get me wrong, I love this show, it's really freaking awesome, but I hope they either come up with some better villains or just go without them.

yeah, the interactions are more enjoyable. It feels like the villian parts were written in at the last minute to make it longer.JMO:)

The whole bug boy thing at the beginning felt alot like a beginning for an X Files episode. I don't know if this show is trying to be X Files, Rising Stars, Dawson's Creek, or what. I don't really feel this show has yet to find it's own style, but I still enjoyed tonight's episode despite the flaws and I can't wait for more!

i for one loved this episode. smallville has the potential to be a powerful show to contend with. my favorite part of this episode was when Lex told clark "That necklace gives you the power." i was laughing so hard after that. that statement was a total oxymoron. looks like the wall of weird girl has the hots for clark. i wonder what they'll do with that? i think they are jumping the "evil genius" gun on lex. he's not gonna last too much longer as a friend. one more thing, i think bug boy's gonna return. kind of sad, he's not the kind of villian i'd want clark going up against. i would have liked someone with real power to give him a real fight. they should have let the first show be a two hour thing. the first hour to lay the groundwork and the second to put more emphasis on the electrical villian. but, no show is perfect. i'll still keep watching it. they would have to really screw things up for me not to watch!

Good ep, 2 thumbs up!
The music was very X-Files. I'm not complaining, but I am wondering, Mark Snow isn't scoring Smallville is he? I read he was going to score some new show, but I forget what it was.
What I like best thus far is the character relationships, that's what's driving the show right now. Lex is great, a very intriguing character. It should be very interesting to see his relationship with Clark develop. What's going to happen when he realizes that kryptonite is clark's weakness? Although I think he has an inkling already. Pa Kent and Clark have a really tight relationship as well. I think they've got that down perfectly. I also like Clark's relationship with Lana. No specific reasons, but I found Dawson's relationship with Joey interesting, and I see this as similar only with gender roles reversed. (Rooting for the underdog!) Does that QB guy remind anyone of Nelson Nash?
The special effects are really impressive. From the fire effect, to the Matrix-style slow-down when Clark caught his dad. That's the first time in a long time that I thought the Matrix effect actually added something to a show/movie.
Maybe Smallville should change their slogan to "Nobody has more Super-Powered Stalkers Then Us!" Maybe Lana should just start her own fan club.
I think they're relying too much on Kryptonite, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the show just started. I hope it doesnt become a crutch. The globulating hand was cool though.
Villain of the week. Well this week's villain was better than last week's piece of crap, even though he was basically a bug version of Billy Miles, another X-Files influence. I think they need to develop an overarching storyline, similar to how Buffy and Angel fight one-time villains all the time, but there's always a bigger part of the picture hanging over them. But like I said, the show's just starting so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
I still think they're trying to figure out what the show should be, but it is looking very promising. I was really looking forward to this week's ep, it looks like I'm just gonna have to screw 24.

Best line:
Lana to bug boy: "Oh! I didn't recognize you without your glasses."

...does anyone else think Smallville could fast turn into a whitebread live-action Static Shock, with the Bang Baby of the Week?

The music was definitely the same as the x-files. Also, someone in another forum asked why Clark gave Lana the necklace back. Besides the sentimental value. I think Clark has built up a slight tolerance of the Kryptonite. Think about it. When you first see him walk up to Lana. He falls down a few feet from her. But, after going into the foundry and encounters large amounts of Kryptonite. He might have learned to tolerate it a little better. If you notice that when he takes out the necklace to leave on the door. He is affected by it. But, it does not make him keel over. He probably feels like he can handle it whenever he is around her.
One thing I find funny is that eventually (in the comics) we see how two women fall in love with him, but in different ways. Lana firsts falls for Clark, while Lois falls for Superman then Clark.

I loved it! The fortress of solitude, his dad falling, and the fire effects were great! I also hate the "villian of the week" thing it seems to keep throwing out, but it would be better w/ one major villian in each ep. I thought it would be interesting if Whitney somehow got superpowers and became a big threat to Clark, only he didn't know it because he kept it as secret as possible. Kinda like the Blight and BB relationship. And i hope they don't start using Kryptonite as a crutch. It made sense in this ep because he found out that it hurts him and that lead stops it. But i want to see him kick some butt big time! I also thought it was cool how he flew for a little. So, aside from the villian and fighting parts, this show is awesome! Well, it's awesome anyway, but fix those and it'd be perfect!

I loved it. I really think this show is great. It's way better than Dark Angel by far. All I really want to know is who is Lana going to think gave her that necklace. And then I want to know when he will find out what kryptonite is.
And the flying is scene is great.

This is a very cool show so far...I like it that there are villains and everything, but I hope the villain won't be a SUPER Villain every week. It would be too rediculous...things like that, just don't happen all the time, and if that's what it will be like, I think it will be kind of stupid. Bug Boy was a scary character though...but I'm not sure if he died or not...at first I thought that the bugs were going to crawl all over Clark after Bug Boy got squished, but they just ran off...why didn't he squish them? I hope that the whole series will not be about Super Villains...but, keep the scary scripts coming, there cool, just hopfully they won't all be about Supervillains. By the way, I have a feeling that Micheal Rosenbaum is going to be a real busy guy for a while, since he's also the voice of Flash on the Justice League series. He's also the voice of Agent West on "The Zeta Project." Ironic...his name is West, and he's voiced by Rosenbaum, just like Flash, maybe he's a descendent of Wally, and he hasn't discovered that he has superspeed yet!

I doubt that we will see every episode about the villian of the week theme. After all, we have to get treated to episodes where Clark unlocks the secrets of that Kryptonian book and finds out more about his home planet. I just can't wait until we see flash back episodes of Krypton, assuming they will get made. Another thing I hope to see in the series are the Phantom Zone criminals, but I don't know if they have plans for them in the series either.

The super-power/hero angle seems rather super-fluous at this point, so I don't know if it will hit its intended audience. Teeny boppers may not give it a chance if they're looking for a Dawson's Creek, and seeing the Superman/boy thing may turn them off initially. Superhero fans could warm to it (like you guys), but those looking for traditional superhero action may be turned off.
Still, a character driven show with a super-gimmick is interesting to me.
The last time we got a "character driven" Superman show, we got Lois and Clark. And that show is better left cancelled. Let's hope "Smallville" doesn't get TOO soapy.
