I got the Dumbo DVD tonight. Good news: I didn't notice any edits. If anyone wants me to check anything in particular, just ask. It's not jam-packed with extras like the Snow White DVD is, but it is still worth getting. It has a couple trailers, audio commentary, a short documentary, and some various interesting odds and ends. Plus, two Silly Symphonies: "Elmer Elephant" and "The Flying Mouse".

I have info from someone who works for Disney...

He asked Scott MacQueen about the edits (since MacQueen is the head of the library and restoration dept. for Disney) and he said the edits were not made. In fact, the DVD has a newly restored print.

I'd like to add to the previous statement. "Dumbo" has always run 64 minutes, the shortest animated Disney feature on record. I have a tape of the very same movie taped off of broadcast television (with the commercials taken out, of course), and it adds up to 64 minutes. As far as I know, there was never a longer version that existed prior to its original theatrical release.

It has an "exclusive look" at Dumbo II. Not really a trailer, there is no footage from the sequel shown (perhaps, that's a good thing!). It shows some artwork and there are a bunch of people talking about how great the new Dumbo movie will be. They also talk about all the new characters (a duo of brother and sister bear cubs, a baby ostrich, and some others I have already forgotten about). Apparently the plot involves Dumbo and his new pals getting lost in the big city.

There are trailers on the Dumbo DVD for Peter Pan in The Return to Neverland, Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2... I can't decide which one looks the worst.
