What is really so wonderful about the Flipsides collection is the diversity, we didn't all plump for the same characters and there are some truly hilarious works here, again thanks to all who took part, I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions :D

Nice BlackSad reference too, EA...

That picture is a serious cuteness overload isn't it, Batman's sour expression had me laughing out loud when I first saw it.

My favorite is Batmanuel's picture, captures the Far Side style perfectly *thumbs up*

Easilyamewsed's Cats Don't Dance ones are great too, especially that first one. Heheh, he dances. Pyromaniac's Charlie Brown one works well. Heh, Charlie looks like he's got a toupé on.:D
I see ceta's is in there. What style is that one in?

THANK GOD! That makes my life so much easier!! :) Damn squiggly thingy...
Pyromaniac's Charlie Brown one works well. Heh, Charlie looks like he's got a toupé on. :DWow, I'm surprised(but glad!) you like it! I wasn't even going to turn it in until I got a bit of prodding. I certainly didn't put as much work into it as I did the scooby pic. Yeah, it does kind of look like a toupe, I thought Chuck's squiggle would make a good S-curl.:p
THANK GOD! That makes my life so much easier!! :) Damn squiggly thingy...Don't everyone start celebrating at once... And it's a tilde!:p

OK, I'm back with comments for every single pic.
#1 - Ceta - Don't know the character, but love the designs. Great solid linework, my friend. :)
#2 - Pyromaniac - Never has the Scooby crew looked so good. If only their cartoon was animated and coloured this richly back in the day. Ack, those meddling evolutionary kids. :)
#3 - Pyromaniac - Another good one with the Peanuts gang as the Justice League. A pity that it didn't really get beyond the sketch stage, but it's still a great idea and you nailed Charles Schultz' style.
#4 - Easily Amewsed - Took me a while to figure out just what style this was...and I dig. Great colours! (And I've yet to see an ep of Samurai Jack to fully appreciate this.) :)
#5 - Easily Amewsed - Not familiar with this style at all, but that's one rockin' picture. Very rich and three dimensional. :)
#6 - WingZombie - I dig. Very nice take on the Edds...errr...just which one is that, anyway? Alas, another show I know people around here love (ie, Runie!) but have yet to see.
#7 - VSigma - I don't know what style this Mickey Sorcerer's Apprentice is drawn in, but I really like the fluidity of it. Colours are great, too. Don't take your eye off the broom!
#8 - Unknown Hero - Very, very nice Rogue. Very...sultry, even. :)
Ack, I'm being thrown off the computer now, I'll be back with reviews of the rest shortly!

I'm back with more comments!
#9 - Starscream - I love this one, it's done so well. A stroke of genius to put a Teletubbesque spin on the Gargoyles character designs! :)
#10 - Starscream - Another Gargoyles pic, but in DBZ style. Don't know it too well myself, but that is one kick-ass Goliath, man.
#11 - Silverknight - Well hon, I saw this one of yours a long, long time ago, and it still rocks now. Batman's smug expression sells it all. The contrasting pink just furthers the point. Bravissimo!
#12 - Rune - I'm not too familiar with this BRATZ thing, Runie, but those are some great characatures (sp?). I love 'em. Look at those luscious love cushions!
#13 - Hero of the Winds - I dig. Not familiar with the Oblongs, but I am fully familiar with Jay and I like...even sans Bob, the silent one.
#14 - Good ol' Batmanuel - LOVE it! I wanted to do something Far Side esque too, but I don't think it would've turned out this good. One of my faves! :)
#15 - Dan Turpin - Simpsons superheroes in Bruce Timm style with BTAS font? Dig it. Jimminy Jillickers. :)
#16-19 - Bubblegumgirl - Aww, all of those are so cute! Every single last one of them. :)
#20 - Amazing Spidey - You nailed the South Park/Comic Book amalgamation perfectly. Love it! I don't recognize EVERYONE though - who's the yellow/red guy and the white guy on the right?

I really like all of the pictures there, too bad there were no Teen Titans related ones in that set, but darn quite a bit of Ed, Edd, n Eddy, it seems the show really has got a fan base and stuff, and Tim, I liked your image quite a bit, regards one of them had a design like on Garfield and Friends, real nice it. :)
Good Ol' Batmanuel!

Thanks for the nice comments on mine, everyone! Glad youze likes it, and I had fun doing it. My "The Complete Far Side" books helped a lot. :) I decided to leave it without all the black filled in...and in black and white, but I'll probably be doing a colored version sometime in the future (I've started a computer-colored one, but a hand colored one would be much nicer for me).
Here are who/what they were based on:
- Martian Manmonkey (heh): A couple of different caveman drawings; one for the face, one for the body. I figured since Manhunter has such a huge brow, why not go for the caveman look?
- Green Lantern: Generic chubby body, but the face is based on a guy in "The great nerd drive of '76".
- Wonder Woman: Generic beehive hairdoed woman.
- Superman: Based on one about Samson, though not as angry looking. Slight Tarzan influence, too.
- Batman: Generic body, generic "bored/apathetic" face.
- Flash: Generic body, nerd/kid face.
- Hawkgirl: Based on a slimmer generic woman in one about an archaeologist and his "trophy".
My first idea was based on my signature, but I nixed that idea when the Far Side one popped into my head!
As for yours, well, I hate to play favorites, as I enjoy them all, but some stood out to me in particular (some may not receive specific comments due to my lack of knowledge about the characters/styles):
- Ceta's is somethin' else! (looks Mega Man-ish)
- Pyro's "Justice Gang" (can I call it that?) is great!
- Tim's is hilarious! Once I saw Charlie Freeze, I started laughing a lot! :D
- StarScream's Goliath is very in my face and bold!
- Silverknight's is also very funny. Flash's stomach is gonna be sore! (from laughing too much or being punched; same difference in the end)
- Rune's had me wondering what it would be, based on the description (I couldn't think of what Bratz were), but once I saw it, I remembered. Very Vogue!
- BubblegumGirl's stuff reminds me that I really should check out Ed, Edd n Eddy someday! I'm not familiar with them, but like the drawings just the same.
- Amazing Spidey's idea really worked out well! The style is very good and it's neat to see the Marvel and DC universes uniting.
Rune.. have you seen those Bratz petz yet? One of em looks kinda like an evil Sawyer clone. LOL! I think each of those gals needs a caption now.. An evil Sawyer clone? No way! :p The Bratz Petz thing kind of rings a bell, I'll have to check it out. As for captions, well if you feel the urge then please be my guest :D
Well, If you say so. The second one is JL in Charlie Brown style, and you can just call me Pyro now .Ack! Mea culpa! I've swapped the names around on the pic now Pyro ... too much coffee yesterday methinks
All the descriptions of everyones work are now accompanying them on the DB catalogue, there are a couple missing but hopefully that can be amended.
I'm dying to comment on them all myself but I'm trying also to save it for the talkback though I'm not sure how far of in the future that will go up as yet *gets a dirty look from over-worked Outie* ... hmmm, maybe I'll pop back and comment anyways later.
Sorry, sorry. Forgot to write a small description when I e-mailed my submission to Rune.
For everyone who wants to know, the character is Wolverine from the X-Men but drawn in the style used for the Megaman Zero games.
The picture is backgroundless due to the fact that I spent more time than I should have designing the character (this was my first time using the Megaman Zero style, so it was a little more challenging than I had expected), so, by the time the deadline arrived, the background had only been partially rendered. I deleted it in Photoshop and submitted the picture as you see it now, but I plan on going back sometime after finals are over and finishing the image.

I’m quite impressed on how everyone was able to draw out the characters in different styles. I love the FOP versions of Flash and Batman, Wolverine in Megaman Zero style and Danny in Samurai Jack style. The DDR is a nice touch! :D
#16-19 - Bubblegumgirl - Aww, all of those are so cute! Every single last one of them, :)
- BubblegumGirl's stuff reminds me that I really should check out Ed, Edd n Eddy someday! I'm not familiar with them, but like the drawings just the same.
Thanks you guys! I’m so glad that everyone likes my stuff! :D Even though no one has mention my PPG in IZ style…
Bic's gorgeous pic of Psylocke is now up in the gallery (http://drawingboard.toonzone.net/index.php?module=photoalbum&PHPWS_AlbumManager_op=list) Go see! Now!
Dudley:WHAT?! IT'S OVER ALREADY?!?! I'm sorry, guys, I forgot the date of the deadline Its okay Dudley, if you want to send your pic you still can and I'll include it in the group :)
I'm not going to clog up the thread with 'em but incidentally if anyone feels the urge to see the Bat's Bratz in larger (and single person) format just click on 'Blue Planet' in my sig.
Rune: You can ignore my last PM. The description you put is just fine.
Perhaps I should have checked this thread before checking my PMs.....

Well, since it's not a Jam, I don't see why you can't pass it in...whenever, especially if there were circumstances that didn't allow you to pass it in by the deadline. Just make sure they know what's what.
If I'm wrong about this, I'm sure I'll be kindly corrected. ;)
Yes by all means send in in Mek, be great to have it in the gallery :)
