I chose Oswald the Rabbit. I love his cartoons that I've seen, which were OH TEACHER, GREAT GUNS, and THE MECHANICAL COW. My second vote would probably go to Felix.:D

FWIW, for those who have never seen him, there are several Krazy Kat cartoons (and a partial Gertie one) located at Origins of American Animation (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/oahtml/oachron.html).

Felix, no holds barred! HE'S the best cartoon cat out there, only being surpassed by Hobbes and Garfield.

Besides, I've not been able to see the other contestant's cartoons recently...so another reason Felix gets the vote.

I'd have to disagree with you on that. My vote would go for BILL THE CAT from the Comic Strip Bloom County, the best strip there was.

a. Garfield is the pits - drawing it as a cat is an insult to cats everywhere (I'M OFFENDED! - beat you garfield fans to it!)

b. Bill vs. Hobbes is tough, but I'll go with Hobbes - cats are more cool than psycho (imnho);)

I've never seen a whole silent short, but I won Silent Animation & Silent Cartoons on Ebay. It includes Alice, Oswald, Felix, Gertie, and many more.

I have to admit that I usually like the silent Felix cartoons better than the silent Krazy Kat cartoons (the weirder the better), but Krazy Kat is a much more interesting personality than Felix. Obviously, this is due more to Herriman's comics than the silent cartoons, but the poll is for favorite silent cartoon STAR and not favorite silent cartoon series.
