A year after their fans gave up on them and following reports
of their first ever recorded financial loss, the Spice Girls, once
one of the world's hottest all-girl groups, have finally decided
to throw in the towel. Apparently, Mel B and Posh Spice are
said to be the instigators of the breakup after saying adios to
their manager Nancy Phillips last week. Although no official
word has been released, one is expected to come down the
wire pretty soon. Whatever happened to girl-power. According
to reports out of the UK, the only thing said to be preventing
an official statement about the split from being released, is
the fact that none of the girls are on speaking terms with each
other. So much for "friendship never ends."

I know I shouldn't be laughing...

Um, how many crapola late-90s bands to go?:D

Sincerely,

John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

Will never forgive them for their abysmal cover of the Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping"...

My last ex bitterly hated the Spice Girls....said they were horrible role models for little girls. I've always been pretty ambivalent towards them...though I'll admit I liked their voices. I have a weakness for lasses with accents....

Honestly I agree with your ex. They are horrible role models. When I went to Elementary School. There were these little girls who worshiped them. On the bus they would always sing their music. Thank god the Spice Girls broke up! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

The Spice Girls are gone... and somehow no one cares. Overall, a good sign.

Trust me, dear doctor, when you live in an area FULL of essex girls and london accents, you REALLY don't need a band half full of them. Posh Spice lives about 20 minutes down the road and if I had the money I'd move and make it at least an hour down the road at the very least....

I hate them. I hope this does them more damage than good. I hope this might get it through their heads that they are useless performers and singers which have only got so far through food PR and a lot of financial backing....

I think it's a bit funny how they no longer speak to each other, that they've feuded so much they can't stand each other. That's some Girl Power they got...

Laugh all you want, but I'll kind of miss the Spice Girls. Musical talent aside, they were the closest we came to having a 1990s version of the Village People.

Ginger--the porn star
Scary--the token black grrl
Baby--the Barbie doll
Sporty--the Nike ad
Posh--the goth girl

I thought that they were, at the very least, more tolerable than N'SUCK.

Hanson. No one cares about those Stepford Siblings whose Songs Suck anymore. Why don't they give up and just agree to be brothers? Still can't believe "Weird Al" Yankovic gave 'em a thumbs-up...

Sincerely,

John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

Ahh, the trappings of fame, money, and sex. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

Oh, yeah. How could I forget! The only reason I remember now is cuz they were on the Daily Show. HA! That was a great episode!

The sales from their previous CD tot he current dropped huge! The previous sold 4 million. This one has barely sold 100,000 yet.

Ouch.

So when do you suppose we'll get Spice Girls:Behind the Music? Or has there already been one?

None yet, but I suspect one'll be made soon...

....well, some have gotten fat, all have gotten lazy, and all made cruddy merchandise. Thier movie was one of the worst ever made, bar none. And I am VERY shocked they released another album...thought they broke up officially (I KNOW of one leaving) a loo-oo-nng time ago...

....if one does it, other pop bands will go soon. Thankfully. ;)

AGGH, I still remember those terrifying days when I actually like their music! I'm so ashamed. People tried to warn me, but I still fell into their cursed brainwashing babble!

Hanson was in the Space Ghost episode last week where they ram into the tooth fairy.

I also used like them but that was mainly because I was so fed up the whole boy group hype so I was happy the first girl group. I can't believe I liked yuck!

In Europe they are still successful as solo artists. Unfortunately.

I used to love them when I was in middle school. I don't hate them now, I just don't pay any attention to them...I had no idea they had ever released a new album. I'll still listen to some of the songs from their first album once in a while, just because I liked them so much several years ago.

I have to admit their "Viva Forever" sounds kinda nice, but everything else is really empty. Just like every other pop song :)

They broke up? I thought they broke up before! Wahaha!

I didn't think Spice World was that bad. The paper here had given it 3 stars when it came out, but maybe that's because the fad was in full swing then.
