While looking at the baseless wrestling gossip that exists on the Internet, I ran into this (http://www.awastars.com/):

Bad for the WWE. Great for AWA Superstars

After months of negotiations, the WWE has become unable to come to terms with not one but two of Professional Wrestling's biggest Superstars. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and the Immortal Hulk Hogan have both left the WWE, making them available for new national and international opportunities including wrestling on an AWA WRESTLING SUPERSTARS - LIVE! event. If you're a fair, festival, casino or promoter, the match of the century, Hogan vs. Austin, is an e-mail (info@awastars.com) or phone call away (507-281-8842). For more information, keep visiting awastars.com.
The real news is not that there's some small-time promotion boasting that they may or may not have Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan, it's what promotion is doing the boasting. I thought that Vince McMahon owned the rights to the name "American Wrestling Association", not Dale Gagne. If Gange really has had the rights for the name for some time now, why didn't he do anything with it until now? I mean, the AWA name olds some weight, even now. Also, according to the website, King Kong Bundy won the world title in 1999, and held onto it for a little over a year. Wait... King Kong Bundy still wrestles? I'm confused.

EDIT: If a mod can put a space where it's needed in the title, it would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Yeah, I remember seeing King Kong Bundy wrestle in an USA Pro Wrestling show about 3 years ago.

BTW, remember the episode of Married With Children when Bud wrestled King Kong Bundy?

This isn't the only rumor floating around on the net about Austin, Hogan, and Goldberg.

There is also the rumored Austin vs. Goldberg match that will happen at a Pride PPV show in June (I think its June).

Then there is the recent rumor that Ted Turner is getting back into wrestling next year and he is going to start getting guys on for it now and he wants Golberg, Austin, and Hogan. Maybe Ted and the Jarrets will go into bussiness together. TNA has the talent and Turner has the cash I think it would give the WWE a run for there money especially if the company had huge names like Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, and Goldberg. Then they would also have the real talent like AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, and the best big man in the business today IMO Abyss. The only downfall would be Austin and other big name stars getting all the lime light while guys like AJ Styles (he may not be held down) are working mid and low card matches every night.

The 1990's saw a whole new AWA. Re-named AWA Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. under former Director of Talent and Events, Dale Gagne...So techincially it's not the American Wrestling Association, it's just the "AWA."

A match between "not one, but two" brokendown legends will spark interest, but it's not going to put this version of the AWA on the map.

Actually, Fox Sports and NWA-TNA are trying to get a TV deal. For now though, the chances of NWA-TNA and Ted Turner joining forces is a snowball's chance in hell.

Dale Gagne has no relation to Verne and Greg Gagne at all. This was the AWA which in the late 90's tried to enter the wrestling world with it's syndicated show which featured Sgt. Slaughter, King King Bundy, Tom Zenk and others. It was also notable for freaturing the first ever round system in professinal wrestling. Boring matches resulted and nobody cared. As for getting Hogan and Austin, this is nothing more than a bait and switch. Basically its the promoters attempt to use Austin and Hogan's name to get people to book there wrestlers on shows. Trust me, you will never ever see Steve Austin vs Hulk Hogan at a local festival or Casino. Hogan won't even get out of bed for less than six figures, ditto for Austin.
