DC Direct for May 15, 2002:

Brainiac 5: A descendant of a boy adopted by the original, criminal robot Brainiac, Querl Dox of Colu inherited his forefather's incredible 12th-level intelligence. Coming to Earth in the 30th Century to study at the Time Institute, Querl was recruited by the Legion of Super-Heroes and took the name Brainiac 5.

*Vandal Savage: A caveman exposed to the radiation of a mysterious meteor, Vandal Savage gained great intelligence and immortality! Through the ages he has tried to dominate the world in the guise of such figures as Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan. THE VANDAL SAVAGE ACTION FIGURE features the immortal foe of the heroes of the DCU, standing approximately 6 3/4" tall, featuring multiple points of articulation and comes with a scabbard and removable sword.

*Mon El: An astronaut from the planet Daxam, Lar Gand visited the planet Krypton before its destruction. Years later, suffering from amnesia, he came to Earth, where Superboy believed him to be his lost brother from Krypton. Forced to spend almost a thousand years in the Phantom Zone due to a seemingly incurable illness, Mon-El was eventually released and cured, becoming a member of the 30th-century super-team, the Legion of Super-Heroes.

*The Shade: An immortal adventurer whose origins are shrouded in mystery, the Shade turned his power to control shadow matter to villainy in the 1940s, where he clashed with the Golden Age Flash and his comrades of the Justice Society of America. NOTE/Spoiler: The Shade will also be appearing in "Justice League"

Also, Hasbro has a new "Batman 2002 Promo Pack" listed in the November issue of Previews, which would ship in January 2002. Turns out this is just that repainted Batcycle with Batman and Nightwing, even though its listed as Batman and Robin apparently. http://www.galaxy-cities.com/Earth/nass_/270.jpg

And in Marvel Comics news, the Spiderman Classics line has been doing incredibly well, and now the same line continues without Spiderman, its called "Marvel Legends" and features Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, and The Toad. Series 2 in 2002 will feature Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, The Human Torch, and Dr. Doom. Look for series 1 later this year, meanwhile here's some pics:
