I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but I wouldn't know since I don't venture around here too often...
Well I'm wondering what everyone prefers...new games or old games. (Games systems count too.)
I like some new games (on the GameCube) but I like mostly old games (I prefer our Super Nintendo over the N64. )
We have to get rid of our old N64 and Super Nintendo and I don't want to. We don't have to, but my sister wants to and says it's taking up "space."
Yeah, we don't use it, but it's comforting to know it's there... :p
Anyways which do you prefer...old games or new games (game systems count too. :) )

I play anything that's good. Some 8-bit games are better than current games (GC PS2). Super Mario Brothers is still as rockin as ever.

I prefer the old games.
The 128-bit generation of console games is lacking in innovated games.
IMO, the 16-bit era was the pinnacle of gameplay. The 32-bit era was the refinement of that.

I prefer both, really. New games have fun genres like FPS and the Mech game, while older games have funner sports and action games. Also, the Crime genre (GTA, Manhunt, The Getaway, to name a few) is almost exclusive to our generation, while good beat 'em ups are exclusive to 16-bit.

The age of a game is really irrelevant to me.
In the end, it comes down to how much enjoyment I get out of each individual game.
In fact, I've sort of rediscovered how fun the old stuff was. The games I could never beat as a child are a bit more enjoyable now that I've gained some skill.
Case in point, for my 5th birthbay, I got an original Gameboy and Super Mario Land with it. That was June of 1990, and I never beat it until Febuary 1997.
Ironically enough, my youngest brother was born about that time too.
Funny how that works.:)

I prefer both but mostly older games because of nostalgia and because they don't have load times. In fact, I bought a SNES recently and picked up Link to the Past and Super Mario World today.

Both. I like a lot of the old games, but i feel the same about the the new games too. I will never forget about the old ones since they brought about the great new games we have now.
Both, of course. Why would you choose one over the other?

Both. I think I have put just as much time into Dynasty Warriors 4 or Onimusha Blade Warriors as I have Zelda: A Link to the Past or Mario 3.
But, thanks to GBA SP, I can play old games all the time. (Best anniversary gift... ever...) Mario 2 is getting a huge amount of my time these days. :)
But both. New games are good, just as some old games are horrible. It's a mix, like it always has been.

I prefer older games, when things used to be about substance and not style. If I see another Matrix Bullet-time wannabe effect in another action game starting "some guy with an attitude that thinks he is cool because he runs around shootings things" game, I'm going to like... do really bad things and stuff.

the rest don't....
Try playing Dark Cloud 2, it's as much substance as you can get....considering that you create the world yourself...not to mention the weapon level gorwing system and Golem Building system...

Naw.... there are another dozen or two more games that do it as well... like that horrible "Drake and the 99 Dragons" for Xbox. Oy.

play Dino Riki
You will know fear...
But still the games with excessive violence and bullet time are just a small nook when compared to the rest of the genres...

New ones. Mostly because there will ALWAYS be new games. Not to say I don't hold my NES and Genisis a place in my heart. I'd just rather play something new than the same stuff over and over. I like varity.
