OK, we ask about favorite music and computer games and stuff like this. So how about board games? What do you play, what do you love, what do you love and wish you could play more of?

In grad school some friends and I got addicted to the Avalon Hill "Advanced Civilization," staying up until dawn when we had classes the next morning just so we could finish playing.

Since grad school, with a lot less time to do that kind of stuff, I've had to make due with "Settlers/Seafarers of Catan."

Anyone else?

I always hated Monopoly. But the game I was addicted to was.... Clue. That game was awesome.

I love Monopoly and Risk I kick ass in both of them.

Monopoly's pretty cool, it gets too comlpex and bogged down sometimes though. I've always liked how simple and fun Life was. And there was this game I think it was called Omega Red that I used to play all the time with my friend. That was awesome.

LIFE! How could I forget it. I like LIFE better than clue. That game is awesome. Now I have to go into the crawlspace and dust that bad boy off and invite some girls over.

Nobodys mentioned Chess, for shame. Arguably the most influential, and powerful chess game ever. Actual wars have been descided with this "game"

I also like risk and monopoly.

Life was always my favorite. Isn't there a CD ROM version of it out now?

This is a toughy. Especially since my friends and I go through board games like water. We find a new game, play it to death, and then move on to the next one.

One game we played alot was Wiz-War. Man, that was fun. A buncha wizards trying to screw each other over.

We also play some old games that aren't in production anymore. Ones such as Dogfight (a WWI air attack game) or Landslide (an election game).

But how can I not mention Hero*Quest? This is the game that springboarded me into D&D (which isn't a board game, but a game nonetheless). It was a fun game while it lasted. I may try to play it again sometime.

Key to the Kingdom, while simplistic in nature, was a blast too. Somehow, we always find a way to make the game about screwing each other over. :D

Parchese is another one of those games. Surprisingly fun, too.

Oh, and about a year ago I got the Batman 50th Anniversary Game. Not the greatest, but fun for a break inbetween the more serious games.

And this is just the tip of the iceburg on the topic of games....

LIFE is a great game...it's fun when you have more kids than holes in the car.

LOL! That is great! I remember having to fill a 2nd car up driven by the babies. I always found that funny.

I haven't played life since I was a kid, but I remember really having fun with it. Monopoly always irritated me. I never had the bloodlust you need to survive.

As a kid I loved Candy Land and I have fond memories of Chutes & Ladders.

Risk is still a cool game, Monopoly is okay every now and then, and the family always plays Yahtzee durring the holidays (Not really a board game though, even if they do put it in the same section at the store)

Anyone here familiar with "Cheapass Games" like "Get Out," "Kill Dr. Lucky" or "Before I Kill You, Mr. Bond"?

When I was younger I liked chess, but for some reason I don't play it anymore. :(

I also like Clue and Trivial Pursuit, though the latter takes way too long to play...

The only Cheapass Game I've played was "Witch Trial". It was really fun. We only got to play once, but intend to play again next time I go home.

I've got that one, but I haven't played it yet. It looks great, though.

Just outta curiousity... Anyone interested in Pokemon:Clue? I'm thinking of drawing up a board or two of it. Honestly, why did Hasbro not adapt Clue for Pokemon?

:p

Hm...

MONOPOLY! I love building a corporate empire. I usually win at it, too. ;)
CHESS. Though I seriously, seriously am terrible at it. Once lost in four moves...
CLUE. Who killed Mr. Boddy? Heh, that question never gets boring. :)

Does anyone else like STRATEGO? It's a very good guessing and stratagy game...and it's fun blowing up the enemy marshal with a bomb. :D

I'd be more interested in Pokemon Battleship, where I could sink ships full of the little buggards.

I'd think "Professor Oak". Maybe maybe "Giovanni", but Rocket politics can steer far off from the heroes.
