Avatar Contest: Halloween

OK, people are already putting up the Halloween avatars, so I'll put up the Contest Thread.

The plan is to have Avatar Contests about once a month; the next three will be holiday-themed, so this one is for (mwahaha!) Halloween.

What to do:

Find, make or create your own Halloween-themed avatar and put it up. Doesn't have to be connected to your username or anything like that -- just something connected to the season.

To participate in the contest come to this thread and put up a note. If the avatar is obscure, tell us a little about it.

Next Sunday (the 28th) we'll lock the thread; contest is over. At that point anyone on the boards (participant or not) will get to vote on the avatars you liked the best. To do this, send an email here (tzmovieclub@yahoo.com) listing the three posters in this thread who you think have the best avatars:

* Give the person with the best avatar 3 votes.
* Give the person with the second best 2 votes.
* Give the person with the third best 1 vote.

Voting closes the night of Tuesday, Oct. 30.

I will then tally up the ballots and on Halloween itself announce the winners and the honorable mentions.

NOTE: I will be participating, but since I'm the official score-keeper, I'm going to rule myself ineligible. So don't bother voting for my avatar, folks, it'll just be a wasted vote.

For this to work, you have to leave your avatar UP and UNCHANGED at least until Halloween itself. Don't change your avatar just because the thread closes; you have to give others a chance to look over your avatar when they go to vote. (In previous contests, I suspect some people lost votes because they changed their avatar too quickly.)

If you have any questions, you can post them to this thread also.

Remember, this contest is entirely voluntary.

Well, since i "pushed you over the edge" i may as well go ahead and post here:p

Mine is of Jack Skelington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I chose this one because he's making a creepy face and has a bunch of red lighting on him. And i thought i'd go w/ the more Halloweenie approach than my normal stuff.

And Maxie, i think the reason we're all putting up our Halloween avatars is because you said somewhere that the contest would start today. And i know that i wanted to get in early this time:D

The avatar I've using is the pic of Lucifer!!!(Satan) from the anime Saint Seiya, he does not look sacry because he's an angel.

According to catholic traditions he was the smartest, prettiest, and strongest of all the angles that God created, but because of this attributes he wanted to become greater than God, so he got kicked out of heaven.:p

OK, so mine is pretty understated. But I'm not really in the competition so I can afford to be really eccentric in my choice.

My avatar is from the back cover of the book The Best of H.P. Lovecraft. Since it's so damn hard to find actual pictures of Karkull on the web, I tend to use Cthulhu-like avatars on my posts.

Well, here it is - a truly 'chilling' moment in a classic horror film.

THIS is the kind of horror film I like - the ones that get under your skin and disturb you rather than trying to freak you out with buckets full of fake blood and intestines!

Rather the dark version of France's Nostradamus, Rasputin was found to be a fraud a year before the Russian Revolution and sentenced to be executed. It seems he just wouldn't die; he was poisoned, shot, hung and drowned.

Well, here's my entry. Pretty self-explanitory. The Real Ghostbusters! Pretty much the opposite to everyone elses, but still in the theme of ghosts and goblins.

Special thanks to Maxie Zues for helping me with it. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to make them myself for the next theme contest.

Here's mine, on time for once. I normally prefer the psychologically disturbing over the visceral, but the series drooly here comes from was one big exercise in character analysis, and this episode is a favorite of mine.

Mad Hatter - I most certainly do: that's Fox (in wolf form) from "Gargoyles". The ep was "Eye of the Beholder" which was set around and on Halloween.

optimal - What scene of NBC did you get your avatar from? I don't remember it in the film (to be fair, I haven't seen the film in an age).

Yeah, mine's pretty boring compared to everyone else's. But I think it reflects what I think of when I think of Halloween...I'm not a big horror movie person, so I haven't seen any of the horror movies that most of your avatars are from. They're really great looking though. :D
