That's such BS.

"From the creators of Cowboy Bebop"

Uh, NO.

How many lies is that now? Oh well, anything to get people to watch, I guess.

Artimus Gigan

It should be "From The Character Designer of Cowboy Bebop"

Samurai Champloo is from the creator of Bebop...

Well, creators is a bit too broad of a term. I think it's really just one and some fractions of a lie. The series was written and created by Keiko Nobumoto, who wrote several episodes of Cowboy Bebop, Kawamoto is doing characer designs again and on a bit of a stretch it has the same art director as the movie. Most of the staff did work on Cowboy Bebop. Mostly it's that Watanabe is missing. Of course there's the fuzzy issue of Hajime Yatate, the creator of CB, who doesn't exist.

I'm a little disappointed. Not in the commercial itself, but the fact that it took so long to have a promo going, plus the fact that it'll probably run only for the last hour of the weekday block since the new Inu Yasha promos have been taking up the slots on Inu Yasha.

LIARS! Liars all!

Why lie when the show itself is well...good?

Jesus, people are whining about the promos linking the show to "Cowboy Bebop" and not commenting on the promos themselves?

Fine, I'll go ahead and say it.

Those are some sweet-ass promos.

Stuio Bones was behind Cowboy Bebop. I think that's what they were refferring to.

And, yes. The promos kicked ****in' ass! ^_^

UberMonkey
04-20-2004, 03:57 AM
Well, yea. A lot of the talents the same. Character designer, a scriptwriter for Cowboy Bebop created the series, it's got a Yoko Kanno soundtrack... Studio Bones was behind the movie, and may or may not have been founded by a lot of Sunrise people who worked on Bebop.

The line "From the creators of Cowboy Bebop" is misleading, and is pretty much a lie. When you think creator and Bebop, you think Shinichiro Watanabe, the person behind the concept and director of Bebop. Watanabe has nothing to do with this. As was already stated, outside of his two Animatrix shorts (and maybe the opening to a T.a.t.u. anime *groan*), Watanabe's next big work is the upcoming Samurai Champloo.

The promos are nice. I've heard mixed things about the show itself, but mostly positive, so I plan to check it out. The promos did a good job of promoting the actual show, but that cop-out and/or ignorance trying to place it upon Bebop's shoulders seems like an insult to my intelligence. Even if it was true, they should just try to sell the show on it's own merits. Everything else was pretty solid, though.

I think after Witch Hunter Robin, they might be a bit nervous. They kinda need a win on this one.(of course, by that logic they should've started promoting this long before now)

What were the last two anime they introduced? I think the last two(before WHR) were Big O(which was kind of a half introduction) and Blue Gender(well, FLCL/Blue Gender). Big O did pretty well I think, and so did FLCL, but they already kinda knew about Big O from its first debut in the states. FLCL only has six episodes, so despite being spectacular and performing well, there's only so far it can be stretched. Blue Gender has at least as many people who hate it as those who like it.(I think... well, at least so far as the ending goes)

Witch Hunter Robin's performance is the most telling, I think. WS is going for success with their new material in any way they can.

Still, WS can put together some pretty damn fine promos. I thought the WHR ads were good — these put those to shame. Between the Wolf's Rain ads, and the ads for new Inuyasha, I think I could watch a fifteen minute show devoted to WS promos. :¬)

I am all up ons...

Where have I heard that? I can't place it. :¬}

That's going to be tormenting me. I am all up ons... bah!

They say its from the creators of Cowboy Bebop because it is from the creators of Cowboy Bebop. The director, Shinichiro Watanabe isn't there, but many of the staff members, particularly the writer, the movie's art director, various producers, character designer (quite obvious, Kiba looks like a male version of Electra from the Bebop movie, Hige looks like a younger Spike) and the composer, Yoko Kanno are there. The head honcho for Bebop didn't work on it, but just because one person is out doesn't throw out the contributions of the many people that contributed to Bebop being so great. Thats one of the reasons why the show is so good. This is the group of people that brought us Bebop, Escaflowne, and RahXephon, three great shows, I don't see why CN shouldn't take advantage of that fact in their promos.

If anyone wants the promos in Quicktime format, here they are...well, the first one I could find in my capture of last night's AS, anyway. I'll probably look for more of them when I get home from school. The file's bigger than the wma ones already in this thread, but the quality is better.

Have fun.

Whine, fuss, complain, nitpick, blah blah blah. No Watanabe, but several other major creative talents from Bebop are there, and Bebop's influence on Wolf's Rain is hard to deny. I just hope that the talkbacks don't become one long comparison between the two shows.

Once again thanks SR for the link, the promo looked great, showed a bit of blood and it had cool music, but that thing about from the creators of CB bothered me a bit as well.

Since Nobumoto wrote the majority of Bebop, including the pilot and the movie, I officialy declair her to be creator. :p

A benefit of the show airing only once a week; they have more than enough time to prepare the OVAs for english release as the TV series is airing on CN. By the time we reach the end they should be all ready to air.

I think advertising it as from the creators of Cowboy Bebop might be going too far. As for how I feel about the promos: I can't wait to see this show!

I saw wolves (bloody too, which was nice), but I didn't see any rain.

Artimus Gigan

But Gigan, you love witches. You even have one in your avatar.Yes but this is the bad kind Witchery, the good kind is having stuff explode at will or uses ice magic to impale an expensive vehicle....the bad kind is using stuff that I don't understand, and that scares me, so I retaliate by destroying anything I don't understand, so eventualy I will know everything, because I will get rid of the stuff that I don't know or understand...

but I shall spare the heathen's life...for today is my birthday...and I get presents...and you don't...
----------------------------------------

Also I think that Wolf's Rain title's meaning is that wolves will rain down upon humanity or somthing...because the main characters are in disguise, they hide the fact that they are wolves by transforming into humans....
