Series Description
Featuring Alicia Silverstone as the voice of Sharon Spitz, “Braceface” is an award winning half-hour animated comedy chronicling the perils of adolescence. Sharon also finds herself dealing with mysterious and embarrassing mishaps caused by her new braces. No one ever said that growing up is easy, and no one is learning this faster than Sharon Spitz. Despite everything that comes her way, Sharon is still smiling…even if it is with a tin grin.
Voices: Alicia Silverstone as Sharon Spitz, Dan Petronijevic as Adam Spitz, Vince Corazza as Alden Jones, Peter Oldring as Conner Mackenzie, Michael Cera as Josh Spitz, Marnie McPhail as Maria Wong, Tamara Bernier as Mom, Katie Griffin as Nina Harper, Jordan Allison as Marvin.Hmm, so the ABC Family series is finally airing on Disney Channel after a couple of years. It took them long enough, but finally one of the Fox Family shows made its way to the U.S. Disney Channel. Of course, the other big one from before the change to ABC Family, Totally Spies, airs on Cartoon Network now, but elsewhere in the world, ironically, it will be airing on Jetix.

There are a total of 78 episodes out right now.. currently, Teletoon is announing new episodes #66-78) as we speak. Disney will probably air the first 52-65...(their limit) and then sometime in fall air the new 13... Remember aquisitions have no limit to episodes on Disney Channel (thank the...whatever.) :anime:
Braceface is the third show from the Fox Family/Fox Kids lineups to finally air on either the US Disney or Toon Disney Channels (the first 2 being Digimon and PR). This is a complete shock, but good to see Disney finally milk thier acquired library(despite the fact Braceface is from a Canadian cartoon distrib.). Now, only if they could air Eek! the Cat...

If only the would bring back Big Wolf.
They should also air MMC. I'm sure that show will be a huge ratings draw having Britney, Christina, JC, and Justin in it before they made their big break.

Considering this is a Canadian show that I don't believe Fox Kids/Saban had a hand in producing, I don't think this is something Disney acquired in the Fox Kids deal. At least if they did, I'd imagine the rights would have expired by now, as with Totally Spies. Just as Cartoon Network acquired Totally Spies after it aired on Fox/ABC Family, I'd guess that Disney has reaquired this series after it had its initial window on Fox/ABC Family.
Well, this is interesting. I barely remember this show from Fox Family... I might check it out.
Here's a fun fact while we're at it: According to tvshowsondvd.com, FUNimation is the distributor of Braceface

What if they buy Angela Anaconda? NOOOOOOOOOShhhh! They might hear you!
If you go back to that "Made in Japan" block Fox Family used to have, the next step might be .... "Flint the Time Detective" or *gasp* "Monster Rancher."
But the addition of Braceface sounds like an expansion of the girl-centric lineup (Proud, Lizzie [still], Raven and KP). That would make even more sense if W.I.T.C.H. were headed for DisChan as well. But it's going to be on ToonDis and Fam in the Jetix block.

If you go back to that "Made in Japan" block Fox Family used to have, the next step might be .... "Flint the Time Detective" or *gasp* "Monster Rancher."Monster Rancher was not really that bad, not that good either, but at least it had a main villian that was a actual threat to the good guys and NOT comic relief like Pokemon's Team Rocket. And some of the good guys on Monster Rancher were not that corny.
I'll take Monster Rancher over Pokemon any day of the week.

Doesn't Nickelodeon air that now?
Indeed they do kyl416, but that was more for filler until nick could get their new shows in place.. but yes they do run from time to time..but then my questions is Nickelodeon and Disney still together (weren't they at one time together?) so refering back to Martianinvader's comment, they might as well have accquired Angela Annaconda.. after all it's crazy toon logic!

i used to watch that show when it aired on foxfam. i liked it but got tired of all the reruns. i'm glad to hear that there are some new eps on .as for anaconda it sucks and so does everyone who watches it.
If you go back to that "Made in Japan" block Fox Family used to have, the next step might be .... "Flint the Time Detective" or *gasp* "Monster Rancher." Flint was cool in some degree. I still haven't seen it all the way through and it would be dobe if ToonDis or ABC Fam aired it again.
Now, Monster Rancher was tight. It was better than Pokemon and Digimon, IMO.

I've heard from some folks over at TV Tome that the reason why Disney is making this move with Braceface, is because Dave the Barbarian has been slowly losing people in the ratings department.. Can someone please either confirm or deny this rumor? Please and Thank you!

I can't confirm or deny that Dave the Barbarian is losing viewers but it doesn't fit in well with the other Disney shows.
OTOH I remember Braceface as an animated Lizzie McGuire. Blonde tweenage girl star, an ethnic-looking best friend, and a geeky guy friend. It would fit in perfectly with their lineup.

Fox Family first aired Braceface (season 1) in June 2001 - March 02... after 5 months, ABC Family finally ordered a batch of new episodes (27-52)...
But somewhere in the middle of January after episode #41 (season 4) aired... they stopped airing new episodes.. and aired reruns all through (january to may 2003)... then Braceface was eventually pushed off the lineup for good. What I'm wondering is why Fox Family ordered 26 eps (the first two seasons of braceface combined to make 26 eps)... Can they do that?
And i'm wondering if anyone has a press release on Braceface coming to Disney Channel, i'd like to keep track of the dates/episodes Braceface airs on Disney Channel.. this way we can find out which eps are not going to air on abc family... for example.. why did Disney Channel skip #12 Driving Miss Sharon in the marathon... and just go to 13? Hmm... Well anyways, i'm happy to hear Braceface is back! :D

I never realized just how many fans Braceface had. I thought everyone hated the show except me. I was the only one who seemed to care when it was originally cancelled.
Anyway... if it's coming back... YAY!

That sounds pretty cool. I used to watch that show, before they took it off (see what I mean Braceface fans how bad it is when they take your favorite show off the air? Now you all know why I'm fighting so hard for Kim;) ) I am assuming that those times are Central....that's what time DtB come on here..4:30. So apparently, Braceface is taking the place of Dave. Hopefully KP will still be on at 4 central. Cool!

"Braceface" never got cancelled. ABC Family just lost their rights to air new episodes. If it were cancelled, Teletoon wouldn't be airing the new season.
So yes, I GET TO SEE NEW EPISODES!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! :D
My favourite's BACK as Alden!! :D Oh, the STORIES I can tell you ALL about what's going on!! :D
Alicia Silverstone is not back as Sharon I can tell you that and it's a Nelvana(Canada)/Jade Animation (China) co-production.
Anyone who's a Resident Evil fan (I'm the most biased one you'll ever meet), you'll recognise two voices from the series. Take a guess who and one of them was also with Katie Griffin (Rei/Sailor Mars) in Sailor Moon.

ABC Family decided to stop airing it when the finally implemented their own image over the Fox Family Channel's image. Along with that show, they ditched Totally Spies, Big Wolf, and S-Club. It took about another full year for Totally Spies to appear on CN because they had to wait for the distribution deal to expire for ABC Family.

Well, I'm not sure if you are right or wrong, but I can say that the Director: Ted Bastien told me that they purchased all of season 2... eps #27-52... So that's strange.

Hey, your really gifted to know that:p , even the creator David Michel said himself in an interview; he wasn't "clear" with the buisness side of the story, which you just explained. I was always wondering about that!:D I just never understood why ABC Family didn't pass some of their good shows onto other networks! Disney Channel.... they shouldn't air Recess every wasteful day...

Ya know what's a shame though? Teletoon aired the new Season 2 episodes just randomly weekdays (daily) if I'm correct, instead of sticking to a certain time slot to air new episodes... which I dont get why because TS isnt an aquisition over there... right? So well you guys got lucky getting to see season 2 earlier than most countrys... your still going to have to wait till this fall for season 3 because that's when the TS crew is delivering. Sadly. :(
So Teletoon should have aired the season 2 episodes on a certain time slot... say saturdays? yeah... Because Teletoon finished airing season 2 by June 2003..?.. So you had to wait... *counts*..... almost 14 months! Just to get new episodes to air... which, they have not purchased season 3 yet... but here they did! We'll finally be able to catch up... and sorry for wastefully going off-topic.
I'm glad Braceface is back... but does Disney have the rights to "Announce" new episodes..?

Teletoon aired the first two seasons in order. After the run was done, they randomly aired season two. Now, they're back at airing the first season.
I cannot stress enough that if you don't WANT to know what happens in a part in "Braceface", DO NOT HIGHLIGHT!!
Think the relationship between Alden and Sharon will last? You're in for a surprise. Trust me. I was distraught. I was thinking, no more Vincent???? *cries* You'll get shocked later on, though. I'll stop there.

Well now it makes perfect sense as to what is going on with Disney and why in just over a week Disney is planning to start Airing Braceface..
It seems also On May 7th, Nickelodeon is planning to go after the same crowd with the ultimate Crazy Crossover Movie.. (You could Call it When Nicktoons Collide! Actually Nickelodeon has had this one in the works for a few months, so it's no surprise to see Timmy Turner (From The Fairy Oddparents) and Jimmy Neutron (From The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius) switch places!
Yep See Timmy Turner become 3D.. See Jimmy Neutron as a 2D cartoon See the Viewers turn over to watch Braceface.. (pure and simple Disney Coup d'Tat!)
Any Questions? (Can you hear me now... Good!:D )

Glad to see it back on, I remember watching it a bit in the early ABC Family days and it was a bit more mature than most of these preteen/teenage girl animations so I'm a little suprised to see Disney pick it up. There's some episodes on drugs, puberty, theft, etc. stuff that I would think is just a little over Disney's normal cotent level. Hopefully they won't cut those epsidoes out or anything.

I agree with you here Knux.. after all Braceface is one of those Quality shows that Disney should have never pulled off of ABC Family and this one had some pretty good reasons you mentioned..
I mean I remember the One on Drugs (actually it was alcohol, where Sharon and Maria are visiting Sharon's Father (who's laid back) and they consume Alcohol, and yes alcohol is a Drug..)
Now on the Puberty one (I believe it's when Sharon (or Maria, I really don't know which character), has to go out an I believe buy a bra..
The Theft one was also Classic (Maria shoplifts, and gets the consequences of Doing the wrong thing..)
In short why does Braceface work? Well Dynamis between Sharon and Maria, and the Rest of the kids, plus the fact that the show teaches moralistic Values, (Something that is very low on America's Priority List today.)
Anyway I'm glad they got this show back on at Least Disney Channel at least it's way better then the insipid jokes done on Dave the Barbarian..(Panda to another Panda in one episode of Dave the Barbarian: Pull my Finger = Insipid..)

Completely true. In today's Braceface marathon Disney skipped ep #7 Mixed Messages, #8 Worst First Date Ever. Period. #12 Driving Miss Sharon... and i can bet anyone Disney won't air Miami Vices (sharon gets drunk)... plus other eps like "Grey Matters" dealing with Sharon's gramps calling Maria... something racist... I could be wrong, they air episodes that represent this kinda stuff on Boy Meets World on Disney channel.

Then "A Dog's Life" probably won't be aired, either. It's waaaaaaay down the road for you guys, but it probably won't be aired due to one line that Adam says. Do NOT highlight if don't want to know why.
Name: Pigger Spitz
Sex: not anymore. He's fixed.
I don't know WHY "Worst First Date. Period" wasn't aired. It's so cute and funny.
I don't know who's seen it and who hasn't so I'm gonna play it safe.
Alden and Sharon are both going through puberty. Sharon with her "time of the month" and Alden's voice changing. They're going through probably the most humiliating thing we have to go through but together so they're not TOO humiliated. The 911 call is so FUNNY!! :D

You know sugah, I have read the synopsis over on TV tome on most of the Braceface Episodes and in fact there are about 6-9 episodes in the first 2 seasons that could be questionable..(Miami Vices and Grey Matter are two of them.)
But I think in someways Disney is being a tad over-reactive and a bit Hypocritical aobut Braceface..(After all, you can't talk about Teenage Drinking issues or racial issues on Disney Channel, yet you can have Kim Possible beating the heck out of the bad guys with Punches and Kicks (and the Villains threatening to do Kim in of course..)
but the point is that Disney isn't being really fair to Braceface here because all of the issues of those episodes they are probably "in their Eyes" are telling a good story... how wrong they are..
Actually as long as an episode really doesn't condone doing something I say Let it air.. after all what is Disney really trying to do here? trying to turn this show into sort of a "Toned down version of what Really goes on in Teenage life?" or are they just being to the point where people are going to say.."Hey Disney why are you running this show about Teenage Drinking (and It's Consequences..) " Frankly if Disney is doing this to shows.. How much longer will it be before they remove shows from Darkwing Duck or Gargoyles or even Kim Possible (Dealing with Handicapable people, or Gun Control issues..)
Frankly it's surprisingly hypocritical that Disney Can't talk about the natural physical, emotional, and psychological development of a teenager, along with all their Porblems. and yet.. can have another teenager Punching out a villain..(think about it. Kim Possible is allowed to punch out a villain, but Sharon (on Braceface) can't even talk about "That time of the Month!" or buying a bra even!) Maybe the folks at Disney need a bit of retraining and rethinking about the "Facts of Life" and maybe a Little Sensitivity training as well, because if they're going to do this to a quality show targeted for teens on a "Tween" (Ages 9-12 Years old) oriented channel. then they shouldn't also be running Dave the Barbarian either..
After all don't you think that a 9 year old does understand "toilet humor jokes?" (Begins to  )
I'm starting to think Disney Programming execs for the Disney Channel have begun to lose their focus.. after all over on Toon Disney you can't even show 10 seconds of 1 episode of Gargoyles (Deadly Force) without getting some sort of Backlash. and yet that particular Episode was praised for it's discussion of "Children and Firearms.."
(Perhaps the Gargoyle fans will comment with a bit more insight about this as well. After all they've been shortchanged as well.. in fact, everyone here has been basically shortchanged, and Braceface is no exception to the rule..)
:coyote:

They skipped that episode?? Lizzie McGuire got away with it...
It's hard to say what Disney is really going to do here Tottoko, after all Disney has a way of cutting out 10-11 seconds of the Gargoyles' episode, Deadly Force because Disney Feels that showing Eliza Maza in a small pool of her own blood (inflicted when Broadway accidentally shot her with her own gun) was in the Disney Corporation's own words, "Too Violent and would scare some children" I think that if that's the Case they need to shut down Country Bear Jamboree's Big Al. (Ever hear the Lyrics?)
okay then maybe they will maybe they won't but I have a feeling besides Grey Matter and Miami Vices, another Episode that will be axed could be the one where:
Maria Wong is Arrested for Shoplifting but then again they did the same thing on Lizzie McGurie with Miranda am I right?
but watch... Disney plans to alter Braceface so that some messages won't be sent.. go figure.

In a sense, yes.
Her and Sharon BOTH got arrested for shoplifting. Maria got away with stealing a CD and a pair of sunglasses. Sharon lost one of her Mother's favourite earings so her and Maria went to go pick up another pair. Maria told Sharon that the alarm will only go off because of the price tag so Sharon took it off, but of course, her braces had to muck things up.
If the Disney Channel won't air "A Dog's Life", you're gonna miss the best line that Adam has said (up to that point).
