The best Gundum has got to be Gundum WIng. I loved that show. The plot, the setting, just everything was awesome.

My personal favorite is 08th MS Team, hs all the basic genre's and elements and is vey dramatic.....that battle with Norris is also one of my favorites, the tension man....the tension.

Turn A Gundam, the closest Gundam will ever get to high art and arguably the only show in the franchise that can't simply be dismissed as an excuse to sell toys & model kits. The MS Gundam movie trilogy and Zeta tie for 2nd for me.

UC Gundam series (in order from what I've seen):
-Victory Gundam: Interesting storyline and characters. I can't stand however the number of characters because it gets me confused at who the hell does what.
-Zeta Gundam: Great series and it's pretty understandeable why people consider this the best. Even though Kamille is beaten like a red-headed stepchild for the most part.
-0080 War In the Pocket: Nice little 6 episode series about the price of war from a civilian's perspective. Quite powerful in some regards.
-08th MS Team: Good series about the grunts of the Federation who fight for what they believe is right even though they are soldiers. I liked the guerilla feel instead of the constant space battles. Could do somewhat without the 'lovers on different sides', but all in all good.
-MS Gundam: I didn't like it at the start (I thought the dubbing was terrible), I grew to like it around the Ramba Ral arc. Too bad CN is not wanting to show it again... =/
-0083 Stardust Memory: Actually my least favorite (faaar down from MSG). It had an interesting concept, but whiny protagonist, lack of a good story and annoying characters (they should have killed Monsha) made it suck. Gato was good, but he was not developed as much as I wished he would.
AU Gundam series (in order):
-Gundam X: What a series with great potential. It had an interesting concept, great characters, and above all else an entertaining romp through a 'what-if' universe. Even if it got shortened to 39 episodes, it still is great.
-Gundam SEED: Liked the interesting Natural/Coordinator bit as well as most of the 2nd half (even though I liked the first half). I could do without the overpowered Freedom Gundam and the throwaway characters like the Astray Girls though. Could've done better in the last episode and with many characters (like Mu and Rau).
-G Gundam: Absurd yet entertaining. Despite being rather crazy, it has a heart to it and the people in it are unique, diverse, and fascinating. Loses itself once in a while, but when it comes to the story, it's all good.
-Gundam Wing: Perhaps much more absurd than G Gundam. But it is entertaining with likeable (if not deep) characters and MSiA. Could do without the contradicting pacifism stance as well as Relena, but in the end it's rather entertaining for the most part.

0079... For obvious reasons. Though Lalah was an annoying character to me.
0083 at a close second.

Since I haven't seen Zeta yet.
0080- Short, powerfull, tragic, it pulls no punches.
Zeta and Victory Gundam are my two favorites. Drama, action, romance, horror, those two have it all.
MSG is third. Hey, CN? Forget Popeye, why not air this uncut? HUH!? HUH!?
War in the Pocket (0080) and 08th MS team are tied for best side story.
And the only AU story I liked was Turn-A Gundam. I need to finish seeing it...

As should be no suprise, G is one of the tops for me. I'll admit I don't like it as much as I used to, but it's still one of my favourites. MSG is also good. I've watched the movie trilogy in full and am halfway through the TV version. I can definetly reccomend the movie trilogy, even though I think it suffers for some of what it cut (the WB crew's reaction to Amuro just feels nasty in the movies since they removed him attacking the Zeon mine). Another AU candidate, I like what I've got to see of X and SD Gundam Force is a guilty pleasure.

The best IMHO is Gundam 0080. It's short, sweet and right to the point. As to Gundam Wing, I liked it better the first time I saw. It was called Zata Gundam.;)

MSG (movie version is better, but the series is good too), Zeta, 0080, Seed. In that order.
I haven't seen Turn-A (which I really want to see), ZZ, or V.

Whoa, gundam series remake and copy aspects of each other...I had no idea!!!!!!
That said, Gundam Wing is the ruler of all gundam shows! It's primarily what got me into anime and the longest series i've ever bought on dvd. The plot, the music, the battles, everything was cool in Wing. Not to say the other shows weren't good, this one was just the best.

I've yet to see Turn A, Z (both of which I'm dying to see) and ZZ (I have all the episodes, but I'm just waiting to see Z first). But of what I've seen, I would rank them (this is gonna be hard, since I've liked them all)...
1. V Gundam
2. Gundam X
3. Gundam 0080
4. MS Gundam
5. Gundam W/Endless Waltz
6. Gundam SEED
7. Gundam 08th MS Team
8. Char's Counterattack
9. G Gundam/Gundam 0083

1. MS Gundam - The original is still the best in my mind. Most influencial anime of all time and I'm a big fan of stuff from that era.
2. Char's Counterattack - Epic movie bringing back characters from the original. Hope CN shows this again someday (although I own it on DVD anyway :p)
3. Gundam Wing - Heavily overbashed, Wing is a great series with a lot of interesting political aspects and great music. Show unfortunately falls apart after Barge is destroyed, but that doesn't detract from the first 40 episodes.
4. Gundam 0080 - Short and sweet. Has the most emotional impact out of any Gundam show I've seen.
5. G Gundam - Like Gundam Wing this one's a tad overbashed. Arguably the most original Gundam out there, an AU that doesn't feel the need to copy the OYW for the billionth time! The opposite of Gundam Wing, its starts off rather poor but gets really good the further into the series we are.
6. 8th MS Team - Show is a pretty good realistic look at the soldiers on the front line for most of the show. Falls apart near the end when Shiro becomes a hippie pacifist
7. Gundam 0083 - Very pretty, but a tad too confusing for those who haven't researched the entire UC history and the 3 main characters (Kou, Nina and Gato) are very poorly used.
8. Endless Waltz - Nice animation, music and mecha designs. Rather poorly done in every other aspect outside of the short segments that fill us in on the history of the pilots. Makes the ending of Wing completely pointless.
9. G-Savior - Among the worst pieces of garbage I've ever seen
I'll abstain from ranking shows I've never seen (F91, X, etc...) and shows I've only seen parts of (Seed, Zeta) for now.
