Get Backers: I don't get it.

In the tradition of the Azumanga Daioh thread, I figured I would ask what the deal is with this series. What is so entertaining about it? The premise seems to be that two "super-powered" teenagers are retrieval people for hire... they get stuff back for people.... so they call themselves Get Backers? I guess it doesnt translate well or something, but that sounds ridiculous. Though I haven't seen the series, and only flipped through the manga, it seems like another boring shonen anime that is just an excuse for some flashy generic fight scenes. Before I totally give up on it, is there anything redeeming about it ie. plot, interesting characters etc. that may make the show worth checking out? If so, I would love to hear about it, since I don't want to judge a book (or manga in this case) by it's very generic looking cover.

Technically I "get the point" of Getbackers, I just don't find it interesting. *Waits patiently for Recca to flame me*

My put-off on Get Backers was that I saw the anime first. So when I got the manga, I was floored by how much more perverted it was. So, yeah, I still kinda like the series, but I'm in recovery.

Well, it's not all filler..stuff.

There are some actual story arcs that are fairly interesting.

Makube X is a pretty cool character, along with Kazuki of the Strings(Biggest bishounen EVER.) and Akabane Kurodo.

And Akabane is just too badass to NOT watch. ~_~
