Rumors have begun to surface that the uncut Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker DVD will contain a widescreen ratio of 1.85:1. It is too early to tell whether or not this is true, since the DVD isn't due until spring 2002 at the earliest. This rumor quickly sprung up for two reasons:
1) The movie was storyboarded in widescreen. The film was altered to full frame during the final phases of production. Altering the product back to a widescreen ratio would be easy, and not expensive.
2) Warner Bros. may market the film differently, and marketing it as an uncut widescreen edition will not only entice new buyers, but fans who bought the original cut version.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker: The Original Cut is scheduled for a 2002 release. Stay tuned to TZN for update son the status of the movie's format, specs, and release date!
