View Full Version : Ever been in a (physical) fight?

Ok, we've got the kissing thread. Here's the other side of the coin. Now, I'm not trying to glorify/promote violence here. So don't make me out to be some "rabble rouser," or else! (JK) ;)

I've never been in an actual "fight." I think that's one of things that makes "Fight Club" intriguing to me. To think that physical combat was a necessity to "primitive" man. Today there are laws and police, etc, but is the killer instinct still there? And are we supressing natural behavior patterns? Hmmmmmmmm.

I have been hit. ~speaking in grizzled marine voice~ I saw some "action" back in elementary school. This really big kid who was sort my friend was upset about something and I said something, which, I guess upset him more; since he punched me in the face.

It was surprising. But it didn't really hurt at all. My eyes watered and my face was a bit numb, but no pain to spreak of. My witts were still about me and I could have jumped him, but didn't. I'm glad it happened. It eliminated my fear of being hit.

There are times I've come close to fighting because someone angered me. But, there was no real threat to my being, so it would have been an attack on my part and not self-defense.

There's only one time I'm sorry I didn't fight. In highschool there was this punk harassing a friend of mine. I was right next to him at the time. He was taunting my friend with menace and actually kicked him in the face! It was a quick, light kick, that was about equal to an open-handed slap. I wanted to take him apart. It's probably best that I didn't. But, I regret that I didn't step in. The guy walked away shortly after.

Anyone still reading this?... Thanks.

My "experience" kind of echoes yours. Basically elementary school run-ins with some sort of bully. Nothing major. Though I'm sure at the time it was pretty frightening.

...I define "fight" as two opponents, on equal terms, with honor and rules. I've been ambushed many times in the old neighborhood and in high school by low-class minority thugs (one notable incident occurred the last day of junior high at the bus stop, where two punks kicked me in the ribs as I lay balled up on the ground)...but by my definition that isn't a fight in the strictest sense. That's like calling a mugging a cash transaction....

In elementary I play fought a bit. There was one kid that bugged me so a hit him hard and he left me alone but by the time I was in High School I was over 6 ft few people wanted to get into a fight with me since not only I was big but people knew I put my weight behind my punches so only 2 people bugged me. One was from middle school (7 and 8) and was a jerk, no one liked him since he always went for the family jewls. He got kicked out of school. The other guy was a bit on the slow side he didn't learned quickly you can't be a bully if no one likes you and you can't fight. Eventully people got tired of beating him up and him still thinking he was a bully so a bunch of guys jumped him and beat the crap out of him and he left.

Yes. The fight was stopped when I got punched in the eye. Naturally, to everyone watching that meant that I lost, but I never fell down ONCE, despite the beating I took.

Twice. The first time this kid spit on me, so I beat the living pooty out of him. Another time, it was with this kid who no one liked, i dont know how i ended up fighting him, but it wound up being just a big wrestling match that didnt go anywhere. So yes, I am undefeated. That was all before high school though, I've been a veritable quaker since then, although sometimes u just find a person who deserves a big smack in the head and then some.

"Play" fighting I do all the time with my friend Jon (Until he got really depressed/suicidal...but that's another story, kids)...it's fun....of course he had the advantage because he was twice the size of me. But I just looked at that as enough justification to fight dirty- eye-gouging and groin injuries and whatnot. Yep....got no sympathy for the male gender :D

I've never been in a fight before, cuz I'm terribly pathetic, small and weak...got beaten up before by your usual middle school bully. Although....on Canada Day, three of my friends and I decided to see the fireworks at Parliament Hill. We happened to get on a very overcrowded bus full very drunk teenagers. Anyway... to make a long story short, that was an experience I never care to have again (But it makes for a pretty good story if anyone has the time and wants to PM me :D).

Twice.

Once: when I was 10 and I slammed the guy into a wall. Served him right. I can't even remember why but I'm not a violent type so I'm sure he deserved it. :)

Twice: some idiot was having a go at me when I was 15. Didn't realise it was going to get nasty and didn't even drop my portfolio I was carrying. You try fighting with a portfolio. I was bullied for a time after that but I just ignored it.....

Shiver, not nice memories either of them....

Twice.

#1 was when a guy pulled me from a stall in 5th grade...pulled me away when I was using it! I slammed the guy into the wall, he then slammed me, we then tried to strangle each other...but then a teacher stopped it. I was hailed for standing up to a supposedly tougher guy, though, but it was a draw. But he never picked on me again.

#2...ah, the BIG bully who no one stood up to and everyone hated (he's a thin, weak dork, but popular...so he got away with this ) stuck a lacrosse stick in between my legs.

I wasd ANGRY then...and one shove (one hand, too) against him and he fell down several feet in front of me, and it was ovious I coulda beaten the holy snot out of him if I wanted to...but I just walked away. He NEVER picked on ANYBODY after that...

Push me to far, and I always fight till they want no more with picking on me...:)

Not persay...

Once in elementary school some kid was bullying me so i tripped him. He fell down on the blacktop and i don't remember too much trouble after that.

And, normally people don't pick on me. I'm over six feet tall, and i look pretty intimidating when i want to. I usually just avoid fights by either using my mind or my mouth. But for the most part i'm a peaceful guy. Not that i wouldn't get physical if the situation called for no other way out, but i always look for that other way first.

I got punched in the face in 7th grade by an 8th grader for calling him names.

Then in 7th grade I got beat up by some tall kid who was my age.

In 8th grade I beat the living snot of a 7th grader. So then I knew how it felt winning.

Now as a sophomore I'm constantly battling my way in and out of parties, parks, oh boy thank god for all those years of watching Batman. ;) POW! BAM!

There was this one time in 6th or 7th grade (i think) when the clas bully hit me in the mouth. It was a total sucker punch, but I barely felt it. It was then I learned that you don't have to hit someone very hard to draw blood. The inside of my lip was all bloody. There have been a few other near tussles, but nothing big. I'm not a violent person, but like many people, if I'm pushed to a point I will retaliate. People have never really tried to pick fights with me. I'm over 6 ft tall and a healthy 200+ lbs. I guess I've been lucky. Here's a thought I've had and wonder if anyone has had something similar. In a way, I've always been somewhat afraid to get a big fight, not fearing injury to myself, but the other person. The human body has some very vulnerable, fragile areas. Imagine getting in a fight and seriously injuring someone? Does that freak anyone else out?

I was punched in the face kickiing some gate-crashers out of a party once (lost a tooth too...), and, worse still, a shop-lifter I'd chased for a few blocks tried to stab me with a kitchen knife...

I was lucky enough to be able to get away!

In High School I got into one fight my senior its was short. I did a jump kick to the guy's midsection and it was over. I think I surprised him and he just froze as I hit him. In junior high I almost got into a fight. However, as soon as I started I pulled a fancy karate move to intimidate him and he called if off. Oh and last week. Some punks walked into my living room and I didn't fight them but I had to threaten them out of my place. I live in Isla Vista California its the college town to University of California Santa Barbara. THe crazy thing was I was/am still on crutches. So it was interesting.

Yes!!!...::looks arounds:: only once ok maybe 2. When I was a kid this boy the same age as me back then, kicked me for no reason in my stomach. So I punched him and grabed his hair until his mom came to the rescue. Needless to say, he was crying more than me at the end and was horrified after that because a girl beat the crap out of him at 5 years old :D ...the next thing I know is that we became friends until he moved and we lost contact :(

After that incident no boy in my neiberhood dared to pick a fight with me.

In High School this group of girls was making fun of me and started to pull my hair. I ignored them the first couple of minutes thinking that they will grow tired of me since I was not paying attention to them. Then one of the girls from the "in-crowd" started taunting me and was poking me in my ribs with a book. That is were I snapped since none of my so called friends came to my defense I took matters into my own hands. I grabbed the book next to me and just slapped her with it. The girl was in shock!. I don't blame her :D I even surprised myself that I just did that.
In the end she apologized and I did the same but we always made sure not to cross each other in the hallways.
