It's mostly for his sarcasm and quick wit for things. He can say almost anything around them and they wouldn't have a clue what he means. But it's really in the eye of the beholder, like how there's people who don't like Ed for his stupidness or Eddy for his get rich quick schemes.

I mean his nice side of himself does make the cul-de-sak kids not make much troble out of him except when he is with the Ed's, but overall, if he is alone, he is nice to them, plus he is smart, and not like the other 2 Ed's, I also like to mention he also at times if the Ed's played a very nasty trick like one of the lastest new episodes, he will do somthing like with Kevin, Edd tossed the Keys to Eddy's house in making sure Kevin got in and well after he found the keys, both Ed's are deat meat, and I also find that Edd also turned against Eddy during the elections episode and voited for Plank instead of Eddy and that is what I mean that Edd is trying his best not to be one of the both crazed Ed's that keep scamming the kids, that is why I like him the most.

Edd is the straightman of the trio. To balance out Ed's stupidity and Eddy's greed, Edd is the "Why me?" guy. That's why he's developed his sharp wit.

It's actually Eddy who gets beat up most of the episodes because he has a great mind that goes unapprieciated. Most of the people here hate Eddy. Eddy gets beat up because he lets his greed control him and because he's responsible for most of the group's bad ideas. Edd has been accepted by the other kids numerous times but for whatever reason it doesn't last long.

I think the Reason why Edd (Double D) is there is because of the fact that he is indeed what you call "The Straight Man" for the Jokes that evolve around him.. Frankly Compared to (I've Got a Jar on My Hiney) Dumb Ed and (I'm so Greedy I'm a CEO!)Eddy.

Edd is the Most Logical and thought out of the three. He does have Witty Sarcasm from time to time, but Edd, is perhaps the one who tries to keep the group out of trouble, but usually Eddy (The Greed Selfish one), tends to muck things up for Stupid Ed and Edd (Double D).

In fact, Sometimes Edd does have bad days, but usually the start of those days are because of Greedy Selfish Eddy. and Usually he tried to help Stupid Ed out, but sadly Stupid Ed is so brain dead, that Edd sometimes I swear gives up on Poor Old Stupid Ed..

but I say Edd is perhaps the Coolest of the three because of the fact that he tries to be the Optimistic one of the group, and no it's not because of the Hat!

Greedy Eddy is the Schemer and the Con Man, while Poor Old Stupid Ed, is your Typical "Forest Gump" Style Clown. Edd is perhaps best know as the eclectic Thinker type.. after all that's what makes Double D, Edd.

I say that sums it all up..

People who form crushes over cartoon characters need to feed of the insecurities of others because to form a crush over a cartoon character they have to be pretty damn insecure themselves. That said, Eddy is a nice fit.

I suspect Ed isn't dumb. Eddy isn't always selfish. Edd is actually spoiled. And I have video proof.

Edd may help the group get out of trouble, but that rarely happens. And I have read the Earth2Ed forums, and many of the people there said that his hat is cute.

Eddy doesn't always muck up things. It's either Double D saying "The plan is stupid and I'm not going to help and mess it up" (A few times) or Ed not knowing what's happening and accidentaly messing up the plan. Sometimes Danny just messes it up because the Eds always have something messed up.

If Double D is so optimistic, he would encourage Eddy to do his honest plans. Eddy is actually the optimist. Eddy always goes with his plan, and never gives up. Double D might be logical, but he's not much of a thinker.

Ed is my number 3 idol. I don't think he's stupid, he's just misunderstood. No one even just talks to him. They tell him what to do, and make him seem dumb, but they're wrong!

Double D is wise. Don't get me wrong, he has flaws like everyone else. I guess the word I want to call him is, human.

Kevin is a jerk. Rolf's a fes. Nazz is stuck-up. Sarah is a "bleep". And Jimmy is gay. That's pretty much the basic description of Ed, Edd, and Eddy. :shrug:

Edd hangs out with the others because he's too polite to leave them and Eddy's personality just runs right over him. You've all had that happen, right? The friend from when you were four years old who, now that you're a little older, you just don't like and yet you can't seem to tell them "Look, it's not working out and I don't think we should be friends anymore." Cause then they'd cry and you'd take it all back and have to play ping-pong with them that afternoon.

I like him because he's the voice of reason. He's weak willed enough to be forced into things against his will by Eddy yet smart enough to get some enjoyment out of it for himself and often so do we. Although I like all the characters, especially Rolf.
