The comic book based movie From Hell hit #1 this weekend, just ahead of the new Drew Barrymore chick flick. From Hell is based on an Alan Moore written graphic novel from the 1980's, printed by DC Comics. (although nowe the rights are somewhere else I think) Below is the top 10 for this week:
1. From Hell - $11,325,000 (11.33 mill)
2. Riding In The Car With Boys - $10,800,000 (10.8 mill)
3. Training Day - $9,500,000 ($57.5 mill)
4. Bandits - $8,425,000 ($25 mill)
5. The Last Castle - $7,100,000 ($7.1 mill)
6. Serendipity - $5,800,000 ($34.8 mill)
7. Corky Romano - $5,300,000 ($16.1 mill)
8. Don't Say A Word - $4,400,000 ($48.1 mill)
9. Iron Monkey - $3,200,000 ($10.8 mill)
10. Max Keeble's Big Move - $2,800,000 ($14.3 mill)
Say...where's Glitter? :)

I finally saw Training Day this weekend. It was a very good movie, although the ending was a bit convoluted. But great performances by Denzel and Ethan Hawke. Highly recommended!

And I never knew that "From Hell" was based on a comic. Learn something new every day I guess.
As for the movie: it was good but I highly doubt that I'll be watching it again. It was just a little bit more disturbing than I usually like.
I'm also glad to hear that "Training Day" is good, I plan on seeing it next.

For those who haven't read the From Hell graphic novel, I can't recommend it highly enough. Naturally, the movie wasn't able to include everything from the novel, and it's perhaps my favorite Alan Moore work.

I agree. I like Ethan Hawke; when he's in movies like Gattaca and Training Day. Washington's preformance is spellbinding. I second the recommendation!
P.S.
Love the new avatar DG. Captures Dick's brash, smugness. The Motorcycle chase from "Sub Zero," right?

Yup, the avatar is from Sub-Zero. I think it's my favorite avatar to date and may be stickin' around for awhile. :)
"Training Day" is definatly on my list of movies to see soon before they're pushed out of theatres. I'm seeing "From Hell" this week, and I really can't wait!

Yeah. If you're a fan of L.A. Confidential(I can't remember if that was you or Nightwing) you'll really like Training Day. It's a lot like "Confidential," but set in present day LA, rather than 50's Hollywood.

Finally, some creativity in the B.O. topic title. Nice work, DG.
Man, "Joy Ride" sure disappeared from the top 10 quickly (and yet, "Corky Romano" continues to linger).

Thanx for the compliments. I'll try and keep them as inventive as I can!
And i'm suprised that Joyride fell to #12. That movie has gotten alot of great reviews, yet has only grossed around $19 mill. It's a great tightly woven movie. And yet schlock like Corky Romano clutters the top 10.
And I'm a huge fan of L.A. Confidential! I am definatly gonna see Training Day now!
