I'm looking to purchase some videogame OSTs and I'm wondering what should I get?

Even though I own any video game OST, I would suggest: Any Final Fantasy game OST, Kingdom Hearts OST, and Castlevania:Symphony of the Night OST.

Final Fantasy 7 or 8 IMHO.. but I would support a look at Kingdom Hearts, especially if you are a fan of Disney and FF - it combines the best of both.. :)

Chrono Trigger
Original Sounds of Double Dragon (VERY RARE but if you can find it, grab it)

Any of the Final Fantasy tracks are good, Zone of The Enders soundtrack is also good, there's the .hack game soundtracks which are good too...

Final Fantasy 7
Sonic Adventure 2 (decent J-pop)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtracks (take your pick or get the whole set; the 80s live again!) [I know the VC Soundtracks aren't 100% filled with original music, they're still good :) ]

I'll have to EDF, Prince of Persia SOT, Prince of Persia 3D, Beyond Good and Evil, and FF VIII.

The soundtracks to the Dance Dance Revolution video games, especially considering how each soundtrack has a second disc features a megamix featuring most of the songs that appears on the soundtrack (it even more fun when you see the megamixes set to anime).

Looks like you're getting lots of different FF recommendations... Nevertheless, I say the Final Fantasy 6 OST is the best video game music ever by far. Far surpassing the other FFs, even. Of course, it does have that SNES sound to it, but what're you gonna do? Compositionally, it's the best. And heck, although FF7's music has a higher overall sound quality (probably more KHz or whatever), a lot of the instruments are actually worse.

Get the Metal Gear Solid 2 OST. It's definitely the best I've ever heard. Very cinematic and all that.

I forgot one, Tales of Phantasy.

You'll probably have to order this one, but the Mario 64 soundtrack has some catchy tunes on it. And if you're into techno/new age music, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly comes with a soundtrack in some editions (though I sold the actual game because it's pretty crappy). I'd love to have a King of Fighters soundtrack, BTW. WITHOUT having to import from Japan.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, Onimusha: Warlords, GTA: Vice City's V-Rock station. I'll add more later on. :)

Add another vote to any FF sountrack. Whichever of GTA:VC's various stations interests you. I'd pick VROCK, but I'd probably get K-Chat and VCPR if they were made available. There's some funny stuff on there. As much as I disliked Chrono Cross, the music was pretty good.

Game OST CDs I bought and enjoy:

Kingdom Hearts - Simple and Clean, Forze del Male, Destati, really too much to mention the whole 2 disk soundtrack is great.
Final Fantasy VII reunion - Orchestral version of One Winged Angel
.hack://GAME perfect collection - Aura's theme is very good, the rest of the 2nd CD is pretty good too.

OST CDs included with the game that I like:

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Soundtrack - I like the Cinematic Suite.

Pretty much any soundtrack from Square Enix (Kingdom Hearts, FF, etc) is good.

I also liked the songs in GTA:VC (very retro), but I didn't buy the soundtrack because I found a way to pull the stations directly off the PS2 disk. Also the soundtrack missing many songs that were in the game, but the soundtrack's sound quality is better though. If you don't need every song in the game and you can afford it, I'd recommend getting the soundtrack.
