Time to rate this production on the whole, instead of by its parts!
Say goodbye as Clone Wars (and possibly Genndy) departs from CN in one explosive night. Or something. I guess the night won't explode. It's not a tangible thing that could combust.
If you're going to go out, go out with a bang.:moon: :moon2:

If you're going to go.......
Ah, it's been said before.
Watching these episodes back to back though, things really do start picking up at Chapter 5. I'm not a real big fan of the Arc Trooper chapters. However, when you Kid Fisto, Count Dooku, Ventress, Obi-Wan, Anakin, et all, you know things start getting good.

What, are they not going to be able to replay Clone Wars after this? I assumed they would add it to the Cartoon Network Theatre rotation...
At any rate, Clone Wars Chapters 12-13 alone are better than Star Wars Episode 1&2 combined. Hooray for Mace Windu.

Awesome!!! they had an emergency braodcast test right at the beginning of chapter 20.
I agree that the first 5 weren't as good as the rest and I wouldn't mind having this on dvd.
One thing I would have liked would be that they take out the logo that appears at the beginning of each chapter. It's kind of annoying...

Well, I held out for several months because I wanted to see all of these in one night. And damn, was it worth it. Viewed consecutively they're a revolutionary and spectacular animated film easily outclassing any Star Wars work since Empire.
I mean, these were absolutely incredible. Some of the individual moments, especially the use of the force powers, were nothing short of mind-boggling. The incorporation of CGI is stunning, and the overall direction is skilled and confident.
I really, really hope Lucasfilm gets Gendy to do a whole TV series. I mean, I would definitely expect it to be profitable.

That Anakin is an arrogant young punk with no regard for anyone except for himself, no wonder he turns to the Dark Side. This series does hold up as a whole, although I rather if they just shown it consectively instead of breaking it up with Teen Titans episodes. I do think that Episodes 12 and 13 really did seem out of place and really didn't have any purpose besides making the Samuel L. Jackson surrogate look qewl. All it really did was waste six minutes on providing a very dated Mean Joe Greene reference (it didn't work). Other than that it made its more effectively than the prequel films preceeding it.

Well they weren't originally going to do the Mean Joe Greene reference.
Mace's story was basically the same thing that Chapter 5, with the undersea planet being under attack, was... a sidestory showing that the war was all across the galaxy. Also, they had already mentioned that Mace was on Dantooine in chapter 1, so it was set up.

I only saw Chapters 16 through 20 and have seen the first few chapters already, but I am still able to enjoy it. It shocks me that mere 5-minute chapters are able to convey a sense of excitement and fun unlike the first two prequels. All I hope for now is that Episode 3 will be good...
And after seeing General Grievous in action (as well as hearing the same voice actor he will have in the movie), I can't wait for it.

Well they weren't originally but that's what wound up on the screen. I don't mind sidestories and I do see a reason for them to establish that it is a galaxy spanning conflict but Chapters 12 and 13 were a bit much and they could have made the same point using one chapter instead of two. Besides, the kid served no purpose beyond that Mean Joe Greene scene. Yeah I know that the battle is supposed to be from the kid's point of view but Clone Wars is a story about the loss of innocence, the last thing we need to see is a battle from a kid's point of view.

This micro-series really needs a DVD release along with extra features, interviews, concept art etc.
It was cool seeing all the shorts once again, I really liked the underwater one and the space fight one. The Mace windu ones were really action-packed. The last two were great as well. They were all beautifully animated and CN studios did a really good job on this show.

I think SW:CW actually works best as a collection of shorts instead of regular 30 minute episodes. When I first heard about CW a while back, I was wanting a full length episodes, but it was better this way.
Some episodes were better than others but overall, it was good. The sound effects was definately one of the strongest elements of this series.

I have no idea what you're referring to so this was my take on the kid. Honestly, I took the kid out and put myself in his (her?) place. Of all the characters, that one was the only one through whom I could actually enter the world. But I never saw the battle from the kid's point of view. He'd never be able to see those things that clearly from his vantage point. So for me it was more of a "damn, that's a huge battle" and "omg, I'm meeting a Jedi Master" type thing. And it was for me, not for the kid. (But if you think about it, having a kid witness war [or general violence] is one of the loss of innocence motifs. What works against that interpretation is the fact that we don't see any negative psychological ramifications of that act of witnessing.)

StarWars: Clone Wars is possibly the only cartoon animated by CartoonNetwork studios that isn't an eyesore to look at, and the characters aren't the living embodiment of flat-statues. Although I finally got to see all of the chapters, I really want CN to show them without interuptions (showing TeenTitans inbetween every 5 chapters, and commercials) and for the love of god, they could at least cut out the title cards for each chapter and splice them all together when showing them.

That aspect would have been more effective if the kid either saw or experienced the negative aspects of war but the whole, "wow this is so qewl!" doesn't work within the context of the story. Besides, that whole sequence was just there to make Samuel L. Jackson (at least his animated likeness) look tough.
Mister Intensity
I really enjoyed the series, even if it was so short.
Really amazing what can be done with the Star Wars universe if you think about it.
Hopefully Lucas takes notice, and decides there is a market and opportunity in more animated Star Wars tales.
Just thinking about it makes me excited, I hope this is not the last animated Star Wars series we will see.

I missed chapters 19-20 during it weekday airing but decided to just wait to watch it on the special night, the last episode was probably my favorite, along with chapter 13 and 19 (unfortunatley Asajj does not die from the fall)
But I thought the animation that impressed me most was when Grevious was fighting all the jedi and switching the lightsabres between his feet and hand and spinning and all that cool crap. That was kinda boggling how they got around to animating something so complicating scene.

It's still more characterization than he's gotten in Episodes 1&2 combined.

I love the clone troopers. They're brave, inventive, and totally got their act together. They're perfect soldiers, except when Anakin is in charge of course. But they are no Jedi.
The Mace Windu chapter is probably one of the greatest fight scenes ever animated.
That said, the Jedi powers were over the top. Knocking each other through walls, breaking robots in half with their bare hands and bringing down mountains with mental powers, all really, really cool. But what's next, Kamehameha waves and flying around the world to turn back time?
But, then again, I don't think you need extra-sensory powers to notice invisible robots when they're walking in the snow.
Also, the panicky jedi, I hope he was just a padewan and not a full jedi.
Still, if they only offer CW in a special edition box set with the 3 new movies, the movies would be o.k. bonus material.
