Having seen only a handful of Superman: The Animated Series episodes, I have no clue as to what the official animated origin of the Parasite. Is that costume his skin? Is he an alien? I know everyone keeps calling him by his first name, indicating that he's a human being, but other than that, I am clueless.
Also, how was Brainiac introduced to Superman? I bought "Last Son of Kryton" a few years ago, but had never found out how Superman and Brainiac met face to face. I did see "Ghost in the Machine" though, and man was it good. And no-
You don't have to label this uder "spoilers"! :p

He was a janitor who, in a heist gone wrong, got dipped in a barrelful of chemical nastiness. That is indeed his skin.
Ever notice that his origin is really close to the Toxic Avenger's?

I have no clue who the heck the toxic avenger is. In which episode of Superman: The Animated Series is the Parasite's origin revealed? Why does he hate Supes? And please recount the first showdown between Brainiac and Superman, if you saw it!:)

brainiac first encountered superman (well, after last son of krypton) in the ep "stolen memories", where brainiac comes to earth and makes a deal w/ lexcorp to share all his information he gathered in the universe. but brainiac really wants to destroy earth and just gather the infomation for himself. and since he was from krypton, he sort of tried to use superman, who later found out what he was up to and how he betrayed krypton, and they had it out. yeah, ive only seen that ep like once or twice, so my description may be a bit off. peace.

Parasite: He doesn't hate Superman, he just sees him as a source of power. In the first episode he appeared in, he captured Supes and intended to keep recharging himself from big blue for years.
Braniac: He was originally Krypton's super-computer who monitored events on Krypton. He hid information that Krypton was about to explode so that almost no one could escape, though he downloaded himself into a sattelite and split. Their first showdown came when Braniac arrived on earth and made a deal with Lexcorp to share alien technology. Braniac also offered Superman knowledge of Krypton. But, as said before, Braniac's M.O. is to arrive on a planet, suck up its knowledge, then destroy it (as he's apparently done numerous times already). His "data transfer" allowed him to take over Lexcorp's computers and, through internet links, every other military computer. Superman had to rush in and destroy Braniac and his ship, but in the process rescued the sphere that contained Krypton's data and took it to his Fortress of Solitude.

Man! That episode sounds awesome!!! Is there any where on the net that I can see a few pistures from it as well as an in-depth summary? I really hope they release Last Son of Krypton on DVD with that episode and "Livewire" (love that gal!) as well as the Metallo episode! That would rock! Thanks for responding, guys!

Parasite drains the enrgy of his victims. When he realized he could have a limitless resource of super powers if he drained Superman, then he'd be unstoppable. That is the reason for his fixiation on the man of steel.

it's true, Parasite drains his victim's energy. the drain lasts for about 12 hours when used against Superman. it lasts less for humans. another episode of the Parasite also consists of Livewire. that episode is called double dose. one of my favorites. if you havent seen that episode, and want the basic plot line, i'll gladly give it to you!
