Does anyone remember a sci-fi action cartoon from the late 70's (I think it was a Filmation) where a crew of futuristic astronauts got orders from a giant holographic head that resembled the giant head from the Wizard of Oz? That head has given me nightmares throughout my young childhood.
If anyone can identify that toon, I will give them a cookie.

It wasn't a cartoon. It was the original Power Rangers series.

It wasn't a cartoon. It was the original Power Rangers series.Didn't the head from Power Rangers more resemble the spinning God thing from TRON?
I don't know I kinda blocked Power Rangers from my mind, except for the movie theme:
"Uh oh We're in trouble! Something's come along and it's burst our bubble, yeah, yeah!"

omg, i was also given nightmares in my young childhood by a big holographic head. the head appeared at midnight and gave orders to the people there. but i could have sworn that it was an episode of SESAME STREET or something that this was on?
did your holographic head in the cartoon appear at midnight? if so, we both got scared by the same damn head. what cartoon was this?

The Centurions, maybe? I don't remember anything about a giant head, though.

If anyone can identify that toon, I will give them a cookie.I know what this is. It is Filmation's Space Sentinels, which aired in 1977.

Gee... whiz, looks rather... lame. Sentinel looks like that guy that hangs out with Dr. Blight in Captain Planet. Let's also hear it for multicultural fun with a caucasian, an african-american, and an asian. Then of coures it seems rather cool with the name "Space Sentinels", when it's just a bunch of teens in lame Halloween costumes.

(and yeah now when you think about it could the now Defunct Filmation Animation Studio, sue Cartoon Network and Turner for Using Mal as a Copycat of Sentinnel One?
as for the William Shatner Joke, shogun, no no It's not only Shatner, but also Priceline.com's Board of Directors in tht one shot!

Hmmm... I'm drawing a blank. Who are those guys again?Actually Desslar, This was a Show back in the 1970's Called Space Sentinnels.. (acutally if I recall the Show Ran on NBC (Especially in the Los Angeles Market) from 1977 to 1978 or 1979 and involved three Teenagers who were Summoned (By the Floating Talking Head (Sentinnel One and His Repair Bot, Mo) to protect the Galaxy from the Forces of Evil.
Each of the Characters had different Powers.. One wa Hercules and in fact he was Strong, Astrea, the "Token Female" of the Group Was a Shapeshifter, and Mercury was the fastest and could run at the speed of Light (Think DC's Flash without the Red suit..)
but all in all this was one of those Lost Forgotten shows that Filmation should really never had produced.. it's almost up there with Flash Gordon (Done also by Filmation) as a show that was in between the Golden age of Animation in the 1960's and 1970's (Where shows Like Speed Racer and Astro Boy Ruled) and the Silver Age of TV animation (The 1980's and later, where you had G.I. Joe, Transformers, and of course M.A.S.K. as well as thousands of Countless shows) so this is indeed a rare find..

:coyote:Er, thanks, but I know this show is Space Sentinels (although I've never had the privilege of seeing it). I was asking who Exedore and Zordon are. They sound familiar but I can't place them.

Zordon, is better known from Power Rangers (at least up to Power Rangers Turbo I believe.
So I hope that answers those questions..

I've seen that cartoon. It was okay, if you can get past the cruddy animation.
Ya know, I don't recall Power Rangers airing in the 70's.

And Desslar is rewarded with the cookie. The giant holographic head looks somewhat different than what I remember, but this is the show, and I'd love to get a glimpse of it on video to see how well I really remember it.
Shogunthethird gets the Award for Most Amusing Quote (can I put this in my sig please?), and Tusconcoyote gets the Award for Interesting Observation, especially regarding this:
