From scifiwire:
SCI FI announced it will be bringing back Farscape with an all-new miniseries — called Farscape: Peacekeeper War — slated to air in the fourth quarter of this year. The four-hour miniseries picks up where the cliffhanger series finale left off and will reunite John Crichton (Ben Browder), Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) and the rest of the Moya crew.
Farscape creator Rockne O'Bannon and executive producer David Kemper wrote the miniseries, which was directed by Brian Henson. Peacekeeper War was produced by the Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment, and executive produced by Robert Halmi Jr.
SCI FI will make the official announcement at noon on Monday, April 5, during the channel's advertising sales "upfront" presentation.

Wonder if they've a promo already at this Upfront.
I'm glad to here the story of my namesake is getting some closure. Too bad we can't say the same for shows that suffed at the hands of FOX. -_-

A victory for fans of TV shows! Proof that support can make a difference - and I can't think of a show more deserving of a final mini series than Farscape! I hope it is used as a conclusion and not as a hope of spring boarding another series.. I can't see Sci Fi being that generous.. wouldn't want to push our luck and be left with ANOTHER cliffhanger..!

FARSCAPE maybe the best SCI FI show in a LOOOOONNNNGGG time.
That fact that both this show and FIREFLY were cancelled before their time
makes me weep.

How did I miss this news? If this mini-series makes some sort of closure then thumbs up Sci-fi. I also liking the idea that Sci-fi is doing more mini-series more often.

Why can't they bring back MST3K?

Bout freaking time! I was so mad when Farscape was cancelled that I vowed never to wath the Sci-Fi Channel again. Though my ban is now over I won't be watching any more new series on the network. They just cancel everything. (Mystery Science Theater 3000, Sliders, The Invisible Man, The Chronicle, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, Tremors: the Series.) They don't consider TV shows a form of entertainment. I've heard the network president call them "product". What upset me most about Farscape's cancellation is that this is the SCI-FI CHANNEL. The place for shows that wouldn't have a chance on another network.
The reasoning behind Farsape's cancellation was that it wasn't getting a broad enough audience. Well maybe if they didn't RUN IT ON FRIDAY NIGHTS IT'S ENTIRE FOUR-YEAR RUN it would have a broader audience. Plus this struck me as "Well, it has a lot of nerdy fanboy fans but we want to reach OTHER people." Basically the people who watched Farscape and put the bread and butter on their tables weren't good enough for Sci-Fi. They want to have a "more sophisticated" audience.
I can't tell you how mad this arrogance makes me. Basically the people who gave this network their time are pooped on by the network suits. I think there should be some heads rolling over this descision.
To make matters worse, Sci-Fi eliminated all chances of Farscape being picked up by another network. They refused to sell syndication rights to any potential buyers. No network is going to pick up an established series if they can't air reruns of the series during non-sweeps periods. So what do they do with these episodes they refuse to sell? Why run them late at night or early afternoon when no one is watching. What scares me about this is that there will be potential sci-fi writers who will never see this astounding show. If Farscape had been syndicated and seen at a regular time there would be a new generation of sci-fi writers who wouldn't call their characters "This decade's James T. Kirk", but "this decade's John Crichton". Crichton is the most multifaceted, charismatic, coolest, vulnerable, sexy, introspective, and funny sci-fi hero ever. I shudder to think of a generation not growing up with him.
So, Sci-Fi basically tells David Kemper "It you're gonna do a Farscape movie we're not gonna bankroll it. Heck, we might not even air it. Don't call us..." Now, they say "Okay, we'll air it: SCI-FI PROUDLY PRESENTS THE RETURN OF FARSCAPE!!! You all should thank us. Without us this never would have happened." Would it surprise you all to know that before Sci-Fi "generously" decided to air this it was gonna air in syndication? Basically Sci-Fi did NOTHING! We were gonna see this anyways, no thanks to them. What, so now we should be grateful?
I think the network heads should be replaced by actual sci-fi FANS. You know people who aren't creatively bankrupt and believe science fiction is more than "product" and their audience "consumers". They should be replaced by people who realize that science fiction can open up the mind, engage the imagination, and be entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time.
Don't thank Sci-Fi Channel for Farscape coming back. They did everything in their power to try to make sure it wouldn't.

Well said Fone Bone.
What irrated me at the time, was the UK Sci Fi Mag - SFX decided pretty much sit on the fence.. no, actually they pretty much sided with Sci Fi..
They said that despite the fact it was a shame SciFi was cancelling this great series, it was the fans fault for not watching it enough...
Methinks they were protecting their industry links..
I hope Kemper and co have not forgot that now they are BACK... :P SciFi are pitful. They are better in the UK cos SKY One has SG-1.. here it's all SciFi plays... during the day that is. Oh, and their boringly cheap reality show and one off movies... it's infuriating..
You only get to see Farscape if you are half passed out in the morning.. Farscape compared to SG-1... well there is no comparison IMO.. It's ridiculous Farscape is shunted to Nightduty while SG-1 ambles on over many hours during the day..

Heh. I don't usually post so angrily but I was on a roll.
Stargate SG-1 fans should be losing sleep now that the show is on Sci-Fi. But yeah, really no comparison quality-wise.
What worries me is that USA Network is owned by the same suits. Does this mean The Dead Zone and Monk's days are numbered? I hope not, but I wouldn't be shocked if it did.
