I think I read this in EGM, but I might be wrong.

So, anyways, I read that the new Grand Theft Auto, GTA: San Andreas, is exclusive for PS2. Were GTA3 and Vice City considered exclusive for PS2 at first? I bought the double pack for Xbox and I was just wondering if there were any eventual plans for the new GTA to reach the Xbox. Thanks

Were GTA3 and Vice City considered exclusive for PS2 at first?Yeah, Sony signed a limited exclusivity deal with Rockstar, which I imagine will also apply to the next.

The first one was supposed to be PS2 exclusive, but it didn't last and R* put it on PC. It did so well there that not only did they do the same with VC, but they went around all the contracts and got both games on the XBOX. I think that they got around the contracts by complying to a time limit. Like GTA3 took forever to be on PC, almost a year if I remember. VC took something along 6 months.

SA should be put on the PC. The previous 2 did so well that it'd be foolish not too port it. It really doesn't cost much to port a game from console to the PC, especially if you have previous ports that turned out perfect to use as an example.

Well, since "Vice City" took place in Miami, Florida in the 80's, isn't "San Andreas" supposed to take place in Los Angeles, California, in the 70's?

It would be cool to one day play a "Grand Theft Auto: Windy City", which takes place in Chicago, Illinois, in the 20's! (during Prohibition, when gangsters like Al Capone made a fortune in moonshining)... :D

I'd also love to see a Grand Theft Auto take place outside of the U.S. one day (London? Paris? Vienna? Moscow? Tokyo? Bejing? etc.)

Actually, there's a GTA set in London during 1969. It's an expansion pack for the first one, though.

Actually, the sample scripts used to audition the Voice Actors are from contemperary films. Go to ANY Video Game magazine to read more about it. It looks like it's going to be set in 1990-2004.

I hope San Andreas is more polished then VC was. Is it too much to ask that they PLAYTEST the game before selling it? There were a lot of gameplay mechanics that really didn't work in that game. Not being able to pick which weapons you have on you, having the Adrenaline pill turn curbs and stairs into death-traps, and making bikes more unstable then a floor made of jello come to mind.

I'm waiting for Grand Theft Auto: Back To The Homestead

You see it really takes place in Amish Country, and you steal these hosre and buggy carriages...oh and there's supposedly a butter churn feature where you're actualy allowed to churn butter for a quick way to make money...

And there will be some amish who bare skin, the Amish Women will actualy have their dresses cut above the ankles....
--------------

Anyways GTA:SA better have some decent cheats and new vehicles...because the game can get boring real quick...

How about some multiplayer action? The original one for the PC did. They even made a mod for online play with Vice City on the PC. I don't see how hard it is for them to make it like the original. Is that too much to ask for?

So far only GTA:Tokyo has been thought of by R* (And by that I mean buying the WWW name) , but Paris would be good and they might think about re-doing London later on.

LOL, well, it's good to know that at least someone has already thought of that... but I'd like to see how RockStar does it! :)

As stated before if there is a licensing contract then nothing they can do but I'm 99.999% sure they're gonna port it to other consoles.

Maybe after a year or something. Doesn't bother me though. I have PS2. HA HA. You X-box users are screwed.

just kidding. Where all gamers. Whether we be PS2-ians or X-Boxians, GameCubers, or PC-ites. We all hate people that read books.

(during Prohibition, when gangsters like Al Capone made a fortune in moonshining)... :D Matt Thomas seems to have beat me, but I'll back him up so far as to suggest that if you can deal with the 1930's and not the 20's try Mafia for the PC. (The console, like many pc-to-console ports, got hacked.) But Squall, you're right in that it's not GTA; this is a FPS game. A good one, IMO.

Back to Sugar Daddy's question... I'd be very surprized if San Andreas didn't make it's way over to the PC and the Xbox within 16 months.

Well, it'd be GTA5, since Vice City was, more or less, GTA4. I'm thinking they may just be done with numbering the series.

As for your second question, I'm no prophet but...yes.

Why don't they port any of the GTA games to the GameCube? It's not a big deal to me because I have a PS2, but I would think more consoles = more money. They have a problem with Nintedo or something?
