With the major league baseball season coming I made out my predictions for the upcoming season....

Divisional Champs
American League
East - Boston
Central - Minnesota
West - Seattle
Wild Card - New York Yankees
Runners-up - Oakland, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore
The Yanks will be competitive, but I don't think they'd be able to catch up to Boston, who has been dealing more productively. Also, the Orioles' recent free agency spree will help.

National League
East - New York Mets
Central - Houston
West - Arizona
Wild Card - Florida
Runners-up - San Francisco, St. Louis, Chicago Cubs
Believe it or don't, a Braveless playoffs! Then again, the people of Atlanta are very jaded in the Braves, they can't even sell out a playoff game. The Marlins ability to actually hold onto their championship team will be a big benefit for them.

World Series:
Arizona over Boston
Proof once again that pitching is the most important part of a team! By now the D'Backs should be more used to the dynamics of playing against teams that can really be offensive thanks to their ballparks, whether it be a short fence (San Francisco) or high altitude (Colorado). And all of the young pitchers should benefit under the wing of Randy Johnson.

Other fun predictions:
At least ten players will be busted for steroids by the end of the season.
In honor of their new stadium Petco Park, the San Diego Padres will release a new slogan - "The San Francisco Giants are for people. The San Diego Padres are for pets." :p Okay maybe not.
Someone will finally buy the Montreal Expos and seriously consider a move for them.
The Kansas City Royals will have a good April and choke the rest of the year as always.
The Chicago Cubs will finally consider building a new park for the team.
Bud Selig will reject Pete Rose's pleas to be reinstated into baseball or get on the Hall of Fame ballot.....again.

I'm not a big follower of the AL, but from just looking at the rosters, that sounds good to me.

National League
East - Philadelphia
Central - Chicago
West - Arizona
Wild Card - Houston

Not only is Arizona my team, but I think they're actually the best in division this year. They added a few bats, most notably Sexon, and even after losing Schilling they've got a great pitching staff led by Randy Johnson. Los Angeles didn't do much in the off season, San Diego and Colorado are, well... San Diego and Colorado, and San Fransico is a year older and not a year better. Steroids or no steroids I doubt Barry Bonds can keep up the pace he's been on the last few years. As long as Chicago doesn't screw up the Mark Prior situation they should win that divisiion handily, even with Houston's acquisition of Pettite and Clemens.

World Series:
Arizona over Boston

Gotta agree with Carolina Red on this one. The entire AL is probably going to come down to Boston and New York, and I see Boston coming out on top this time. I see the NL title series being Arizona and Chicago, which would be great with all the Cub fans here in Arizona.

I believe the Orioles will make a serious run at the playoffs at some level, and get out of 4th place. If we could get a decent pitcher, it would help out a LOT, though I'd rather not give up Jay Gibbons in order to get said pitching...

American League
East - Boston
Central - Kansas City
West - Oakland
Wild Card - New York

Division Series:
Boston over Kansas City
Yankees over Oakland

ALCS:
Boston over Yankees

National League
East - Florida
Central - Chicago
West - San Fransisco
Wild Card - Houston

Division Series:
Florida over Houston
Chicago over San Fransisco

NLCS:
Florida over Chicago, again.

World Series:
Game 7 in Miami. Sox leading by one run in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, two strikes. Florida hitter hits the ball deep, and in a play very similar to one in the 1986 ALCS, Trot Nixon catches the ball, but runs into the wall, which causes the ball to fall out of his glove and over the fence. Marlins win the World Series by one run. You just know something like thats gonna happen :(

American League:
East- Yankees
Central- Kansas City
West- Okland
WC- Boston

The evil empire adds another division title, leaving the Red Sox to cling to the Wild Card

National League:

East- Florida
Central- Houston
West- San Fransisco
WC- Arizona

Sorry, Cubs fans, but I just don't forsee them even making the playoffs. Sure we've got a great pitching staff, but history shows that we are just not good enough in seasons after a World Series or playoff run. Therefore, I'm saying the Cubs curse lives on.

ALDS:

Boston over KC
Yankees over Oakland

ALCS

Yankees over Boston (Come on, you know it'll happen.)

NLDS

Florida over Arizona
Houston over San Fransisco

NLCS

Houston over Florida

World Series

Houston in 7 games.

I don't follow baseball THAT closely, but I'll make a bold prediction, and suggest that the Little Orphan Expos will make a serious drive for the National League wild card spot, and either make it or just miss it by a hair.

...and at the end of this year, they're still not going to be moving. $100 on that.

The Expos lost their two best players, so I'm writing them off....

AL
East : Boston
Central : KC
West: Anaheim
WC : Yanks

ALDS - Boston over KC, Anaheim over NYY
ALCS - Boston over Anaheim

NL
East: Philly
Central: Chicago
West: San Diego
WC: Houston

NLDS: Chicago over San Diego, Houston over Philly
NLCS: Chicago over Houston

WS: Cancelled due to threat of the apocalypse.

They will be moving, Bud Selig said so last night on ESPN2, and they're new home will be San Juan. The Expos will play all their home games in Puerto Rico...

I can't believe how many of you are picking the Marlins. They lost Pudge and Derek Lee. That alone should keep them out of the playoffs. And Willis will hit a sophomore slump. He's not as good as he was last year.

NL
East: Philly (only because the Braves gave up half their roster.)
Central: Cubs (as a Cubs fan, I feel silly saying this)
West: Giants (because no one else is good enough)
WC: Astros

AL
East: Yankees (half my fantasy team is Yankees, Baltimore will contend)
Central: Royals (only because the Twins aren't what they were last year)
West: Seattle (they improved in the offseason, Oakland didn't)
WC: Red Sox

I'll pick the Cubs and the Red Sox in the world series. Cubs win in 6. Just for the heck of it.

Please get better, Mark Prior. Please!!!!

Hm...I cant even stress about how much I dissagree with you on this one...but they ARE indeed good predictions....Since being a Yankee fan I would have to say that it will be Yankees that win the east division and subsitute Boston in the runner up place for Baltimore...

Arizona over Boston

Good predictions but I cant say I agree...I wouldnt expect either of those teams to make it to the World Series...I am expecting something along the lines of this...

New York Yankees over Minnesota Twins...

New York Yankees over Minnesota Twins...I bet a million bucks those two don't play this year in the world series.

NL
East - New York Mets - Mets have greatly improved this season. Braves may be somewhat good but this will be the first Braveless playoffs.
Central - Chicago Cubs - Cubs/Astros race to the finish.
West - San Francisco Giants
Wild Card - Houston Astros (Runner-up: Florida Marlins)

NL Divisional Playoffs
Giants over Astros
Mets over Cubs

NL Championship
Mets over Giants

AL
East - Boston Red Sox - This division is basically a 3 team race the whole year: Orioles/Yankees/Red Sox. But I see the Yankees and Red Sox slightly pulling away at the end of the year to make the difference.
Central - Detroit Tigers - While neither team will have the wild card race to fall back on, the Central will be whittled down to the Twins/Tigers and the loser ends up about 4th in the Wild Card race and the winner goes to the playoffs.
West - Oakland A's - A's take this with not much of a difference.
Wild Card - New York Yankees (Runner-up: Baltimore Orioles)

AL Divisional Playoffs
Red Sox over Yankees
Tigers over A's

AL Championship
Red Sox over Tigers

WORLD SERIES
Game 6 - Red Sox lead the series 3-2 and Game 6 they lead 1-0 in a pitching battle going into the 9th inning. Francona leaves Pedro in for the 9th inning and after 2 outs, rookie Kaz Matsui comes to the plate and gets a bloop single. Then LF Cliff Floyd hammers one into the gap. Kaz gets waved home and in a controversial moment, its ruled SAFE SAFE SAFE. Piazza knocks in Cliff Floyd and the Mets win. They go onto win Game 7 2-1 and take the series 4-3.

Go Braves!

Would not mind seeing Cubs and Red Sox to face each other off in the World Series, with the Cubs winning the championship.

Otherwise, Go Braves!
