To all the toon family members here's a good question.....
Who would you say is your favorite comedy team of animation of all time?
For me, that honor would go to "HECKLE AND JECKLE" as my personal favorite comedy team and coming in at second would be "TOM AND JERRY".
My reason for H&J being my favorites, is that they're twins with different accients constising of (Heckle) Brooklyn and (Jeckle) England.I think that out of any of the other Terrytoon characters, this series, is among (in terms of the animation) best out of any other series from that studio. This series is in the true fashion of the silent Mack Sennett slapstick comedies from the 1920s which made great use of the "chase" formula and when watching any H&J one reeler, you'll notice that the two magpies have the exact same movements along with Scheib's excellent muscial scores and packed with wonderful Jim Tyer animation.

I have to say it's a toss-up between Bugs & Daffy and Tom & Jerry. Although Daffy & Porky should not be overlooked.

No, indeed...in fact, I really would have to name Daffy and Porky as my all-time favorite matchup. The pair were utilized in so many different ways, and all of them worked.
Runner-up: Bugs and Yosemite Sam.
I'd like to say Wile E. Cyote and Roadrunner just for the purity and genius of the sight gags, but those cartoons in many ways were just about the Cyote--Roadrunner was most often a passive foil.
The best balance struck thoughout has to be in the Elmer, Bugs, and Daffy shorts. Maybe it's too easy or trite to use those basic three, but the interactions and jokes among those characters were flawless.

That's a tough question, there are so many. But if I had to choose...
Bugs and Daffy - the hunting trilogy is enough to get them on the list.
Bugs and Yosemite Sam - Bugs's cool vs. Sam's fire.
Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.

I'd also say Daffy and Porky are my favorite team, they are in so many great shorts together.

Is that what Barnyard Dog's real name is?
Supposedly model sheets exist calling him George P. Dog...but he was never identified as such in the cartoons, it was merely "Dawg"...so the officially accepeted name now is "Barnyard Dawg".

In "Hen House Henery" (I think) he's known as Br'er Dog (is this a homage to the Uncle Remus stories, or just a Southern thing?), of course the same dog, or at least those looking like him (i.e., the same model sheet) has gone by a few names in other McKimson cartoons.

Br'er is a shortened "lazy talking" term for brother. I'm not exactly sure about this, but it is probably derived from old Southern Negro slang. That's how it got put in the Uncle Remus stories.

I just discovered, the dog in "A Bone for a Bone" is called Geo P. Dog. But he doesn't look like the Barnyard Dawg.

Barnyard Dawg was referred to as George P. Dog on The Bugs Bunny Show.
