You guys have any shows that looked so well animated that they look good even now?

I'd say Bubblegum Crisis really shocked me, with how good it looked.

Everything Rankin Bass did in the mid and late 80's as well (IE I'm strictly talking about the intros, the actual shows were...ehhh.)

I thought Gargoyles looked pretty neat.

Batman, Gargoyles, Ren and Stimpy... I think Samauri Jack would fit on this list too.

Powerpuff Girls, Simpsons and the Toy Story movies are ones that come to mind that I think look great no matter how old they are. And Heavy Metal!

I think Gatchaman (and not the Battle Of The Planets version with the dire 7 Zark 7) still looks stylized and cool despite being made in the early 70s.

I think He-Man, despite it's simplicity is still pretty good and offers very few cringe worthy moments.

Robotech, the Macross Saga and Macross Plus, He-Man (helped establish the pattern of tiny, big-chested women and insanly muscular men), Akira (of course), Transformers (the series and the movie), GI Joe, Thundercats...can't think of any more.

I think the animation quality of the Max Fleshier Superman cartoons still hold up very well. Even all our favorite WB cartoons which we never think twice about animation quality are as old as your grandparents. I would agree that though Samurai Jack is new, years from now the style will hold more value then the most expensive animation today.

Well, I was gonna say Cowboy Bebop too. But I'm not sure about that yet. We can say Samurai Jack for sure now, because the animation style is completely unique and therefore history making. Cowboy Bebop is more of a matter of subtance and style than animation quality. Like how they format an episode, the music and directing. It's not a matter of how the series is drawn, which I understand the question to be.

...Daria...compared to its predecessor, Beavis and Butt-Head, it was a great step up in terms of art and script, with its mature style, relatable characters, and dry wit.

Tron was really ahead of its time. It used computer animation in the early 80s long before there were any Toy Story movies or Shrek.

You know their making a sequel, Tron 2.0! Seriously. I think they sounds fun. I can't wait to see what they do with a movie like that, and everything they can do now.

I never liked Tron as a kid though. all that black seemed nightmarish to me. It was also pretty down beat for a Disney movie. The other movie that scared me as a child was The Incredible Mr. Limpet. The idea of becoming a fish seemed like being buried in all that ocean. I've had a fear of the deep ocean every since. And though I was afraid of the film, that animation was also pretty ahead of it's time.
