I've heard so many negative things about the comic book series, I could never bring myself to pick it up but now I see they are getting a whole new creative team and rebooting the series. Joe Kelly will write and Doug Mahnke will be the penciller. So what do you all think? Will it be good? Bad? Or just something all together to avoid?

Joe Kelly is my current favorite Superman writer. Doug Mahnke is my current least favorite Suerman artist. I wish they were getting Ed McGuinness or Mike Wieringo to do JLA instead.

Cal .
I dont know where your getting your info ,
but as a avid comic fan I can tell you that
the JLA comic has from issue one kicked much but.
You should run , not walk to get back issues.
Grant Morrison and Mark Waid have both
written high impact stories that reall delve into
how each of the Leaguers relate to each other on
a personal level . ( a cue I hope the TV series follows.)
Plus the comic had one of the coolest comic book storylines
ever.
'Tower of Babel'
Ras Al Gul desecrates the tombs of Bruce/Bats dead parents
and smuggles their corpses to Egypt.
Ras knows this will totally consume Bruce as he ignore his
league responsibilities to investigate the disapearance of
his parents bodies.
Meanwhile ..
Each member of the Justice League is attacked and defeated
in ingenious ways by Gul's forces.
How do you stop Superman , beat the Flash?
Read this book.
The catch is Gul has gotten Batman out of the way investigating
his parents disapearance because Ras has raided the Bat Computer and stolen Batmans files on each of his fellow teamates.
It turns out that Batman has been keeping secret files on each of the Justice League in the event that any of them would ever go rogue batman would be able to defeat each single handedly.
In some instances exploiting weaknesses some of the Leaguers didnt even know they had ( like Green Lantern - wont spoil it ).
Eventually Batman realizes hes bieng distracted and rushes back to save the entire League singlehandedly.
However when the League discovers they were defeated by so soundly by tacticts devised by Batman.
They no longer trust and vote on the issue of whether Batman should remain in the League.
The League votes and by a majority of one vote Batman is cast out of the League.
This leaves the remaining Leaguers at odds with each other
split between the two camps of which Leaguers wanted Batman
to stay and which members wanted him out.
Come on Calhoun ... Isnt this a story youd like to read?
Did Superman vote to keep or discard Bats after he betrays the
League? Youll have to scramble to get those back issues.
Anybody else agree this is the greatest JLA story ever told?
Lets start a great JLA comics moments string.

It is definetly one of the best comic stories I've ever read. It was so well put together and the fact that, in a sense, Batman defeated the world's mightiest heroes is just so awesome. Good enough to get him bragging right's as Wizard's Villian of the Year, anyway....

Well...from the fan reation here....I read alot of complaints about post Morrison stories.
So, you're an avid fan of the book....do you feel the new creative team is worthy of carrying it on?

I agree .
The point of the story is ...dont mess with Batman.
Batman , despite his bieng human is the most dangerous
member of the Justice League.
One of my favorite Batman / Superman moments was during
Worlds Finest ..animated movie.
Superman flys into the club all cocky and sure of himself and tells Batman to stop roughing up the goons , placing his hand on batmans shoulders.
Batman surprises Superman by flipping him over his shoulder against a wall.
Also when Superman discovers Batmans Identity by using his
xray vision ( I always use to wonder why superman never did that in the comics as a kid.)
Batman responds by discovering Supermans identity by tracing him to clarks apartment.
the scene where clark uses his telescopic vision and spots batman several rooftops away waving at him.
Clark mutters "touche"
classic !
I need this on DVD right away.

Im more than willing to give Joe Kelly a shot.
Hes done well in the past , it remains to be seen how
he handles a team book.
As I said before , what I liked in the past was how the
focused on how the team interacted with each other.
I hope Joe will be able to work this in and not just make it
a Justice League fights global invaders every month.
I must say though Im not happy with the new artist.
Youd think for a flagship title like JLA they would have gotten
one of their best , not someone mearly mediocre.
Cal some of the JLA 's are now in affordable trades.. you should
give them a shot.

Thanks for the tip! I stopped collecting comics for quite some time so I missed out on Morrison's run and when I finally got back into comics, and noticed that Morrison was writing JLA was about the time he announced he was leaving the book, so that kinda killed that. But he is one of my favorite comic book writers of all time.

First off, JLA is one of the best books out there. The only story I've ever been disappointed with is the Queen of Fables story. Started out very strong, finished very weak.
But with Waid leaving, I think Joe Kelly and Doug Mahnke (whose style I really hated at first, but now he's one of my faves) will really make this cool. I read an interview somewhere with Joe Kelly. Sounds like he has very cool plans.
