I read that thread and I'm scratching my head. I have all 18 volumes of the Sailor Moon manga. I never seen Luna become a Sailor Senshi, unless with the re-releases, Naoko made her into one.

Yep. All three do. Diana is the only one who has her tail still attached when she's in human form.

FIrst time Artemis becomes human is when Minako is in grave danger. First time Luna becomes human is in "Princess Kaguya", which was made into a movie. I'll have to look to see where Diana becomes human.

I'm still rather confused on reading that Luna became a Sailor Senshi in the manga. Got confused with Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon?

Yeah, nobody's done it. That's why Ultraman Tiga's not on DVD, oddly (I think) by 4Kids, or there are box sets of subbed animated Sailor Moon (which technically IS a sentai).

And funny thing about the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers/Masked Rider crossover "A Friend In Need"... it can never be aired again.

The point is, who needs a 6th Senshi? There are good dynamics with all the characters going on that already distenguish this show from the anime.

Sailor Venus: Everyone believes she's the moon princess, she's an idol singer, and she has an interesting relationship with Mars right now. And then there's the medical problems she clearly has. [warning: do not read spoilers if you haven't seen PGSM past ep 23]

Two observations I probably shouldn't say outside of spoiler tags: One, it defies convention for the Moon Princess to be anyone but Sailor Moon, especially since the Usagi/Mamoru relationship is on par for the course. Therefore I think its obvious Minako is putting on an act, making everyone think she's the princess to divert attention to her until the other soldiers, including the Princess/Sailor Moon, awaken.

Second, re the medical problems: there have time and again been very disturbing comments on this issue. Minako's commented on how time is running out, and in the episode where Mars does Karaoke the doctors are commenting on how there's "six months left." Minako, Sailor Venus, is terminally ill. Holy crap...now is that a plot twist or what? That is an ominous yet great element to her character, and there is so much room for development in that area in future episodes.

Sailor Mars: She's been slowly developing from a lone hawk to someone that works with others and is there for the team; her relationship with Venus has/is encouraging her to become a sort of de facto leader for the team.

Sailor Jupiter: Not a lot's been done with her, but the writers built upon the "tough tomboy enforcer" image from the anime and evolved it into a very protective personality. Primary evidence: Looking out for Usagi and consequently decking Tuxedo Mask. :evil:

Sailor Mercury: Knux's Avatar says it all. Kickass plot twist which will certainly have fallout and/or development one way or another.

Sailor Moon: Well OK, nothing interesting compared to the others, but at least the live action version doesn't trip and whine like a sissy every episode. She does fill the role she's supposed to, and I admit its hard to tinker too much with the main character.

So what good is Sailor Senshi Luna? As it is her advice has quickly gotten useless; Minako has more knowledge than she does at this point. She's not interesting, there's nothing between her and anyone else, and its not like they need the power of a 6th--they've done a good job holding off Beryl's minions, and despite Kunzite's awesomeness they could take him if they were all together at once. Heck, as of episode 24 Sailor Moon is almost an even match now.

Also, I thought all the Senshi in the story were formally Senshi in their former lives before Beryl came and trashed everything. I thought Luna and Artemis were just advisors to the queen or something back then; why should either inherit Sailor powers?

Really, a 6th Senshi should be either Pluto or Chibi-Usa, not a cat. That'd portend some stuff about the future, and if this series actually goes beyond Beryl it'd set up the Dark Moon people really well. Throwing Luna in there doesn't advance anything, its just a gimmick.

As long as I'm pointing out flaws, how come Tuxcedo Mask sucks (even more than he should, I mean)? At least in the anime he threw roses around; in the live-action show he swings his cane around and gets knocked down.

Oh well...

Know what's scary? I went into this show expecting to laugh at it all the way...I actually find myself enjoying it more than 90% of the Sailor Moon anime, and what's more I'm coming to actually respect it due to some of the things they've done with it (especially the 2nd item in my spoiler tags). Who'd have thought?

Serena's been pining over giving Darien a "muffler" (dear goodness... why can't they just call it a scarf?), and Lita's been protective of her.

All the while Amy's been knitting stuff... and Luna's been playing with a ball of yarn. She leaves the Karaoke bar... SOMEONE shows up (We know who he is... but I just can't place the name. Nephlite?), attacks her, kidnaps her, gives her a full blast of Negaforce and a new morpher...

For the next day, Amy's just acting wierd. Lita's trying to take care of her, thinking she's sick. Nephlite attacks, Amy's out of it, so Lita protects her. Mars and Moon show up, and Amy stands near Nephlite.

Mmm, not really. Umino was your stereotypical nerd-full-of-useless trivia. Motoki in this version...well....he's a turtle-obsessed-idiot. Not even recognizing that the 'one-year passports' are so blatantly fake puts him way up there in the denseness level. But he's still adorably sweet.

Yes and no. He's not nice, per say, but he's nowhere near the brat he was in the anime and the manga. He still tosses insults, but he makes up for it with an occasional act of kindness, like bringing Usagi a meat bun when she was depressed. (Which he then followed with a "You'd better appreciate it.")

And if so... I don't think Serena/Usagi's HAD a test... maybe one early on.

Ikuko's an absolute weirdo. She's spazzy and utterly *genki*, and she changes hairstyles like someone changes clothes. She also seems to be obsessed with getting people to try the new dishes she comes up with, if the attack on Makoto is any indication. Usagi's dad is nowhere in sight. I think in one episode they mentioned that he was a journalist, which would explain things, since that would take a lot of time from home.

And the only real fight Ikuko's gotten into with Usagi so far had absolutely jack to do with grades, it was over whether to use cheese in whatever dish they were cooking or not.

There's a lot of changes to the personalities in the characters of PGSM, and more character development. Ami's got security problems and doubts her ability to be a friend, Rei is somewhere between her aloof manga persona and her hotheaded anime persona, Makoto's got more conflicts between the "masculine" and "feminine" sides of her personality and isn't as obsessively boy-crazy as she was in the anime, and Minako's a LOT more serious. Frankly, we all thought Minako was a bit of a ***** for awhile. Naru's got more of a presence in the fact that she actually gets jealous of Usagi spending so much time with Ami, but she's still the eternal victim.

My favorite of the changes is Haruna-sensei. It's so scary, she's like a cross between her anime self and Yukari-sensei from Azumanga Daioh (although we've not seen any proof that her driving's as bad as Yukari-sensei....yet).

Well, chew on this as a thought, Without ChibiUsa, you have at least 3/4 of the orgainal storyline falling flat on it's face, (Ok, I belave in the instance of SS most people would like that skiped). Prity much downing our chances of Hakrua, Trista and the rest of the outers...

A little OT question, why are we making a topic for a live action series in the anime forum? And if it`s because it`s still Sailor Moon, are Kamen Rider and Kakaider[not the animation] allowed here too? They both have manga and anime.:anime:

school girl outfits that (not me) some people find, attractive to say the least

I've watched it before and the plot isn't exactly complex and the characters
are all either too generic or flat out annoying. It's appearently a big thing
and has a large following, but I just can't bring myself to liking it ever

Most of the time when it aired on TV my only thoughts about it were
"quit crying about your icecream and put technoman and dragonball on already" :D

I love the live action series a lot. Infact, the anime just isn't as enjoyable anymore because it has a lot of fillers. THat is why I have yet to buy the SMR box set ADV released. Yes I know it is out of print, but I'm going to wait for my stores to put the copies they have left on sale.

Anyway, the Dark Mercury stuff is really cool, but I do want to see her change back soon. I like her better evil, but it just doesn't seem the same without all 5 soldiers together. I really do hope they bring in the Outer Senshi, especially Saturn. Saturn is my favorite character, and deserves to get more screen time than she did in the anime. Hell, I want to see the Starlights as well because Stars is my favorite arc for the anime.

While SuperS isn't the best series, I would like to see how they would portray Nehelenia in the LA, but it would probably be best just to combine her with Galaxia. Mistress 9 would so kick ass in the live action. Hell, even the Dark Moon Family would rock (no pun intended). Unfortunately it looks like the Dark Kingdom arc is going to fill up all 52 episodes. I don't know why, but I really do not like long series anymore. Rider and Sentai do that enough for me. Hopefully then they will break up the other sagas into smaller 26 ep sagas.

Anyway, I'm getting the R2s, and the first volume's eps were still not as good, but ep4 is the one that got me hooked.

I second that. Goofy costumes aside, this is the only time I can remember being provoked to any emotion whatsoever by the Shittenou.
