Maxie says: We had a MAJOR complaint about spoilers in this thread. DG added a "spoilers" warning in the title, and I'll give a big fat warning to everyone who doesn't want to hear certain spoilers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS THREAD!

i doubt it, cause wed have heard more on this, but in the article on the news page about the jl heros and villians, it says darkseid starts the secret sociey (im guessing the injustice gang) and it says poison ivy's a member. i wonder if theyll appear. i also wonder what surprises timm has in store for us, like certain bat or sups supporting characters popping up here and there. i'd love to see alfred and batgirl. thoughts/comments.....

Poison Ivy is an interesting choice. This probably has something to do with the events in the Injustice Gang episode--Luthor and Darkseid will figure that the Joker is too unmanagable and want someone else who's dealt with Batman before. But why her...why not Mr. Freeze or Two-Face or Clayface or even Ras Al Ghul? I'll bet that it's a nod to the old Injustice Gang appearances in the Silver Age, where Ivy was a regular member.

I knew that Luthor was going to develop kryptonite poisoning! He certainly handled it quite a lot in the old series...but, come to think of it, so did Lois. Uh-oh.

I've got a feeling Darkseid if he really does start the secret society probably won't actually be seen till Season 2

Darkseid will be in the series, but won't initially be a major player. He will help form the Secret Society (the anti-JL) and will stay in the sidelines for awhile. Timm said he doesn't plan for a full on Darkseid battle in the first season.

As much as I like the character of Harley Quinn, they need to give her a break and not use her so much in this new series. She's been over done with the comic book series as it is that I think many fans are kinda tired of her character. Give her a break until we are ready to see more of her again. She's a great character but over exposure is just wrong anytime./

I think the coolest thing would be for the creative team NOT to limit themselves to permanent rosters or such. It would be really cool if, during the run of the series, people quit the JL, new people join, etc. Same thing for the villians. This way, it keeps the series fresh and exciting. That way, we COULD hope from appearances from people like Poison Ivy or other Batman/Superman villians, or even villains of other characters like Sinestro and Reverse Flash and others.

Over the past few weeks and months I have heard the following rumors about who will and will NOT appear on the new JL show (many of these rumors I read right here on this board).

I have read that...

*All seven Leaguers will be in every episode.
*Only some Leaguers will appear in some episodes.
*Batman will be a full-time member.
*Batman will participate only when necessary.
*Plastic Man will appear.
*The Atom will appear.
*Metamorpho will appear.
*The Justice Society will appear in the 3-part season finale.
*The Justice Society will NOT appear at all.
*Lex Luthor will organize the Injustice Gang (members include Joker, Cheetah, Shade, Star Sapphire, Copperhead, Solomon Grundy, & Ultra-Humanite) and they will appear in the 3-Part season finale.
*Darkseid will NOT appear
*Darkseid will organize the Secret Society (members include Lex Luthor, Poison Ivy, Cheetah, Gorilla Grodd, Sinestro, Star Sapphire, Chronos, Felix Faust, and Ultra-Humanite)
*And the following villians will appear:
The White Martians
Amazo
Vandal Savage
Felix Faust
Dr. Destiny
The Manhunters and Kanjar Ro
Despero
Mongul and Draaga
The Key
Gorilla Grodd
and
Brainiac

Well, I feel pretty confidant that the JSA is indeed being replaced. The biggest source of confusion for me, however, is the whole Injustice Gang/Secret Society thing. The report on the Society looks like it's completely made up from their appearances in the old Secret Society of Super-Villians comic book series. And speaking of that report, why was there no mention of The JOKER in the profiles of all the villians? Does anyone else think that something is fishy?

Maybe they haven't gotten that far into the series. Either that, or there will be no major changes to the designs, so no reason to show them.

What was the source for those profiles of the heroes and villains on the news page? Some of it went against what we'd heard before, and I didn't notice a source accredited to the info.

The info posted on the newsboard comes directly from the JL Press Kit that Cartoon Network released to major news/information sites, including ToonZone. So the info you read in those posts are the real deal!

What I want to know is where you people are getting that Poison Ivy is going to appear in JL, let alone season one? As far as I could tell (unless I'm going blind here) her name wasn't even mentioned in the recent JL news. If she shows up cool, if not... Oh well. And the same thing goes for any other Batman or Superman villain.

That being said, I really like the idea of Darkseid forming the Secret Society (or Injustice Gang, or whatever they're going to be calling it) from behind the scenes. To me it just makes so much more sense than the other villains just coming together on their own. Plus this will probably lead to an awesome season 2 being out in the open as the central villain. I just hope that if they do go that route there will be direct ties to the Superman episodes "Apokolips... Now!”and "Legacy".

I'm also glad they came up with a reason for Lex to openly fight the League. kryptonite poisoning is a much better reason for Lex to be in mad scientist mode, rather than the creative team to doing it just because they can.

yeah, i agree mr. obsession. i love the kryptonite poising idea. and ivy was mentioned as one of the memvers of the secret society/injustice gang (her names in the description). but they got some things wrong, like under the injustice gang description, ivy's mentioned, but the joker isnt. and timm himself said lex starts the injustice gang, now its darksied?? whats up with that? hmmm....

From what I've heard, I'm willing to bet that both are right. First will come the Injustice Gang (of course, that's an episode for Season 1), which will feature the lineup of Lex Luthor, Joker, Star Sapphire, Copperhead, Solomon Grundy, Ultra-Humanite, Cheetah, and the Shade. The results of the episode [probably] aren't going to be too kind for the team--personalities will clash, the Joker will do something to tick everyone off, etc. The Injustice Gang will be in sorry shape by the end of this episode.

Enter Darkseid in the [unproduced] Season 2. He already nurses a grudge against the Earth in general and Superman in particular, so he contacts Lex Luthor and they assemble a new team from the ashes of the old--one that [may] include Lex Luthor, Gorilla Grodd, Felix Faust, Sinestro, Poison Ivy, Ultra-Humanite, Chronos, Cheetah, and Star Sapphire. This one is named the Secret Society [of Super-Villains].

Remember, there have been several super-villain teams that have faced the League over the years, with most of them reusing the same characters over and over again (the Injustice Gang, the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Legion of Doom, etc.). The creators of the show probably want to touch upon each one of them.

FINALLY an explaination for Lex's involvement in the show... and calhoun, why no love for Harley, man? I don't think you'll have to worry about her showing up, though. World domination isn't at the top of her list, setting people up for dates is....:p

This is great news! Darkseid, Poison Ivy, and Brainiac! I hope this means they will each be appearing at least once in the first season, because I can't wait ti'll the second! Now, what I am really worried about, is if Michael Ironside will return to play Darkseid. I hope so, because he is NOT replaceable!

See ya!

I'm probably way too late to make a difference, but I edited the title of the thread... the spoiler warning doesn't do much good if the spoilers are in the title!

But yes, this is indeed great news... I KNEW they wouldn't be able to resist throwing in an older Super/Bat villain in, since they've got free reign to use the entire DC universe.

yeah, darkseid's voice is great (hey does anyone know if the guy who does darkseids voice also did the dark knight returns batman in "legends of the dark knight"?).

also, i think brainiac's voice is perfect too "ka-lel" i love how he says that.

Yep. Michael Ironside (probably most visible from his roles in Paul Verhoeven's Total Recall and Starship Troopers) did the voice for both the Dark Knight Batman and Darkseid.

--that Clancy Brown voices both Lex Luthor and Capt. Black on Jackie Clan Adventures. I suppose he has an affinity for voicing bald powerful men....

As long as Batman, Joker, Superman, and Lex appear an Justice League, I'll be alright. Still, it would be a pleasant surprise to see Ivy, Harley, Ra's, and I'd even like to see Selina in one.:)

Okay, I know that the Injustice Gang/Secret Society info comes from the official press kit, but it still seems odd that the Joker is not mentioned. If he was left out in order to be a surprise, it seems kind of useless. We've been told since around July that he would be in an episode and that Mark Hammill would be voicing him. So what's up??

The Joker will be in the Injustice Gang, but he won't be invited to join its second incarnation (the Secret Society) because he'll probably make an ass of himself in the first. Luthor already hates him; plus he's too unpredictable, to dangerous, and too chaotic to work with...let alone control. Thus, when it comes to the Secret Society being formed, Luthor will go for a Batman foe that is more dependable like Poison Ivy (hey, I said a little dependable).

It makes sense in a roundabout way: the Joker was a member of the most recent version of the Injustice Gang, but Poison Ivy was a member of the [Silver Age] Secret Society of Super-Villains.

Y'know, come to think of it, how is it that an eco-terrorist like Poison Ivy will come to work with Lex Luthor, a man who ran a company that was a major source of pollution? Oh well.

I can understand how the Joker might be included or excluded in one group or another storyline-wise, but what I'm getting at is that the info in the press kit seems incomplete at best and misleading at worst. The Joker is NOT listed.

On top of that, all of the other Injustice Gang members ARE listed and have a brief description of their character. Besides that, the (other) members of Darkseid's Secret Society don't have an individual description (including Darkseid himself).
