Hey,

With the Spider-Man 2 hype now in full effect, I thought it would be best to keep everything in one thread, like the Batman Begins news thread. This will hopefully keep everything in one place until the film is released on June 30th.

Now, some actual news

Superherohype! (http://www.superherohype.com/spider-man/index.php?id=1085) has a huge update on the new Spider-Man 2 movie. A new theatrical trailer is set to be released on April 9th. The trailer will be online on the same day. The film will also be released 2 days earlier on June 30th.

Sony President Jeff Blake also announced that Spider-Man 3 will hit theaters on May 4, 2007 and that all of the original cast, including Toeby MacGuire and Kristen Dunst, will be returning to thier roles.

Please note, the link above contains spoilers.

What else can I say, but I'm really, really looking forward to that trailer on April 9th! :anime: And the fight scene that the reporters saw afterward the trailer sounds really cool.

June 30th is gonna take forever to get here...

Awesome! Can't wait to see that trailer! It hopefully will show on "The Punisher". It's really cool that Spidey 2 will come out 2 days earlier but it would come out the same day as Catwoman:rolleyes:

More news from Superhero Hype! (http://www.superherohype.com/spider-man/index.php?id=1098):

Official Spider-Man 2 Site Updated
Source: Sony Pictures
Friday, March 26, 2004

Sony Pictures has updated the official Spider-Man 2 website with two new things worth checking out. First up, co-producer Grant Curtis has posted another detailed Web Log in which he talks about the current status of the film and what the crew and departments are doing at the moment. That's available by going here (http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/bugle/weblogs/index.php?id=45).

A new picture of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock has also been added here (http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/bugle/photos). It's the last picture on the page.

The official Spider-Man 2 website (http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/bugle/webisodes/) has updated with a sneak peek at the sequel in both Windows Media and Real Player format. The clip you can see is pretty much the international trailer that's playing in theaters overseas.

I've seen the new trailer that the first post talks about (I found it on www.movie-list.com, it's since been removed) and, I have to say it's the best trailer I've ever seen. It tops the original one, and the Spider-Man 2 teaser trailer. Everything seems to have taken a step up, the CGI was good, and Octavious' tenticles looked superb.

And I even have a new avatar from it (cheers BB!).

Sigh...now I have to wait until July 16th

The new trailer should be available at the end of next week, I think. Apparently it was quickly online before Sony took it down. I really want to see this new trailer in it's complete glory. From the reactions online of the people who have scene it, it is really amazing. And if the quick 20 second clip of it that's up right now is any indication, it's going to be a great looking movie.

www.superherohype.com has trailer news

USA Today reports that Sony Pictures will debut the new 2 1/2-minute Spider-Man 2 trailer during NBC's "The Apprentice" this Thursday. The show airs at 9pm ET and the trailer will be shown about 40 minutes into the program. It will play in theaters starting on Friday.

So, everyone watch The Apprentice, 'cause this trailer is superb. I hope I can catch it in theatres soon.

I'd have thought so, but I can't seem to find anywhere which confirms nor denies it. I really hope he comes back.

This might be a dumb question but has there been any word on what bands will be doing the soundtrack to Spiderman 2. The Spiderman Soundtrack was just a really good CD with ton of really good songs, I'm hoping to be listening to somthing similar with the S2 soundtrack.

I especially like the one with Spidey and MJ. :)My favourite is the one with Ock wearing a fedora - not a bad look for him! :D I also like the one of Spider-Man unmasked, facing the sunset, and the one where he's swinging towards the viewer.

More news: Wizard #152 has a feature on Alfred Molina, with a diary of his thoughts on working on the movie. Entertainment Weekly (April 30, 2004) has their annual Summer Movie Preview, which has some still images from the movie and pictures of the actors on the set.

Just a friendly reminder that the novelization for Spider-Man 2, written by Peter David, came out earlier yesterday. I already have my copy! :anime: And because I'm a very weak woman, I've already begun to read it (I'm just past the first chapter). :o Don't worry, I promise not to post spoilers before the movie!

The tentacles having a "voice" was just really weird to me.:shame: I hope that they won't be using that in the movies - chances are that this is something the author wrote into the novelization. As for the person reading the book, Matt Walton - I really didn't like the sound of his voice. However, I will say that his voice for JJJ is terrific! :D

Looks like the Chad Kroger deal fell through...looking forward to the Jet song though.

I'm surprised anyone would release anything to spoil this film, trailers aside. I'd have thought that they would've wanted more surprises.

My brother saw the trailer in theatres, he says it was superb. I wanna see Spidey on the big screen soon, hopefully it'll run with The Day After Tomorrow or The Punisher, whenever that is released.

Yes, I'm pretty surprised the book was released so early. Most movie novelizations are released either on the date of the movie or a few days before or after. And they certainly chose an interesting excerpt to feature as the clip from the audio book on Random House's site.

Big twist huh? I haven't read any spoilers yet so these are just guesses, but I'm under the impression that Harry becomes a goblin. It seems that the character's love of his father has now become insanity. If and when he discovers his father's actions of becoming a goblin he will no doubt interpret it as an act of protecting his child rather than himself. And in order to make his father proud, he must follow him to wherever his father's roots take him. However I'm sure his schizophrenia alter ego will no doubt be his father.

True this will be a hard standpoint for marketing but the idea of multiple villains that was intended for the first and second films will no doubt be brought out in the third. So when they actually market the film, it will not look as though it were a carbon copy of the first.

mariposa
06-21-2004, 07:04 PM
Hey, Master Con, that's an interesting idea! However, I doubt they'll turn Harry into a goblin since it would be too much of a repetition from the first movie. I'm under the impression that he is working alongside Doc Ock to avenge his father's death.
