In "Dan McGoo", note the signpost--"Coldernell, Alaska". Avery also set the Chilly Willy Short "I'm Cold" there, and it's also used as the brand name of the fridge in "King-Size Canary". Did he use it in any other shorts, and how'd he get it past the boys at Hayes? "What'd you expect for a dime...gasoline?"

Have any of you guys noticed that the word mariguana is in Picador Porky? It's the part where there's a small mariachi is singing " La cucaracha". I noticed because I speak and understand Spanish fluently. (If one of you moderators think I should erase this just say so or pm me.)

Tex loved getting away with stuff like that -- don't forget the "Bare Butte Ranch" sign in "Drag-Along Droopy"

Well, I'm not a mod but I don't see a problem with it. Iirc in one of the early Speedy toons he sang that song, unaltered, "marijuana que fumar". I'd learned the altered version in school, "limonada que tomar". Eh.

The Speedy Gonzales cartoon you are thinking of is "Gonzales' Tamales". That one lyric "marijuana par fumar" was altered the few times CN aired it. Plus it was time-compressed, making Speedy sound like a Mexican cousin of Alvin & the Chipmunks!
