I haven't seen a thread about the film here. Just curious what you thought.
I lOVED it. Well, I though it was good anyway. Drunken Master 2 is still my favorite, by far. But, Iron Monkey was impressive in it's own right.
Donnie Yen, who play's Wong Kar Yi, is a sight to behold. He's not a great actor, but his skill as a martial artist and choreographer is beyond scrutiny. Woo Ping choreographed most of the film, but Yen choreographed a couple of his own fights, which I felt were more intense.
The wire work in this film is very well done. If some of you are avoiding this one because you're sick of "wire-fu." You migh want to thing again. This stuff is more realistic, fluid and exciting than the stuff in Crouching Tiger. And it's the moves on land that really take the cake. Like Donnie Yen's "No Shadow Kick" ("Shadow Kick" in the US relaese.)
Basically, If you like Legend of the Drunken Master, you'll like this one too. The sheer excellence (and frequency) of the action in this movie is astounding.
