View Full Version : Straight Plan for the Gay Man

About a month or so ago, Comedy Central aired this, their answer to the hit show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. In this, a gay man would volunteer to go through a complete lifestyle makeover, and then he would have to pass himself off as straight in a given situation (i.e. blue-collar job, speed-dating, etc.).
Now, I loved this show, but missed the third, and what appears to be, the last episode. I was hoping to God that it wouldn't flop, but now I can't seem to find it on the schedule.
Did anyone catch it, and more importantly, does anyone know where it went to?

Worst parody ever.

I disagree. I saw it as just the other end of the spectrum. Both are clever in their own right.

Great concept...terrible execution. But to each his own I guess

It wasn't funny, because that topic is actually a very serious problem for homosexuals living in America. "Straight-acting," as it is commonly referred to, is basically trying to act "straight" so as to not be given the perceived negative stigma of being "gay." I wouldn't be surprised if "straight" guys found it funny, in a "Street Smarts" sort of way. Think about it. The entire purpose of the show is to ask really silly questions and mock people who don't know them. Yet if they were asking the same questions to someone overseas, would it be so funny if they just didn't get it...?

It's a great concept that would work on say SNL or MadTV, where jokes can run longer without going utterly stale. But as an actual TV show... it just doesn't work.

I agree. I had been looking forward to this show when I first saw the advertisements, but I was completely disappointed.
