Abridged version:

Marvel and Dave Cockrum, creator of such seminal X-Men characters as Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, and Mystique, have reached an agreement that will allow Marvel continued use of the characters while compensating Cockrum for his years of service and the iconic characters he created. Cockrum has gone largely unrecognized by Marvel despite the millions he's made for them via his X-Men creations, and was hospitalized last year due to complications from pneumonia and a possible stroke. His financial burden has been considerable, prompting Clifford Meth and Neal Adams to attempt reconciliations with Marvel, in addition to compiling a Dave Cockrum tribute book due out soon from Aardvark Publishing.

This is great news. Dave Cockrum's characters are incredibly important to Marvel, and his accomplishments and genius have long been underappreciated. It's good to finally see him get the compensation he deserves, especially in this time of need. On that note, I encourage everyone here to buy The Uncanny Dave Cockrum Tribute, which will contain work by Stan Lee, Jim Lee, Will Eisner, Joe Kubert, Gene Colan, John Romita, Len Wein, Joe Quesada, and countless other comics visionnaries. The rallying effort by the industry to help Cockrum is genuinely heartwarming.
