From ANN:
Raijin Comics (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2016), Raijin Graphic Novels, and Master Edition books have been placed on hiatus beginning in June.

Ugh, I really like Raijin too! I can't find the magazine in my area, but I have been trying to buy the graphic novels.
No more Guardian Angel Getten & City Hunter! :(

Are they not selling well? I thought Raijin has potential.

From what I read at AoD.com, only hardcore fans were buying it.

I stayed away from Raijin because they censor there manga for the US audience.

How wide of a range are they going for? Maybe they aren't getting numbers like, say, the Rurouni Kenshin manga is, but I can't imagine they're doing that poorly with their graphic novels.
I get the feeling they really want some mega mainstreamage... and hopefully by that whole "we're going to refocus our efforts to attract wider audiences" or whatever that line was - hopefully that doesn't mean mainstreamlining the hell out of their releases...
*sigh*
I really liked Raijin, too! I was midst a choice between subscribing to this or Shonen Jump... guess that choice just became easier...

I suppose I should track down First President of Japan before it disappears. Always struck me that Raijin was the Seinen (man's) Jump to Shonen Jump. Pity that people aren't looking for stuff on that level (granted, it seemed to me that Raijin was having the hardest time getting out TPBs on to US shelves, which might have been part of the problem as well.)

Always struck me that Raijin was the Seinen (man's) Jump to Shonen Jump. You're probably right and I don't think there's a big enough market for it in the US yet. A lot of that market segment still thinks 'comics' are for kids.

Part of the problem, is that even a lot of adult otaku prefer the shonen/shoujo stuff to the geniunely adult stuff. I know way too many 18-24 year olds who prefer Naruto to any seinen outside of maybe Cowboy Bebop.

A sad state of affairs.

I'm probably guilty of that as well. I read SJ now while the only part of Raijin that I read was issue 0. Part of the problem was the cost of Raijin initially

This is really annoying! I just started collecting the Fist master eds., and now theyre going on hiatus?! I'm not too worried though, because they promised they would translate every last volume, so I hope they still consider the fans they have and continue to release after this...
