Not only the original Looney Tune, Bosko was the first talking cartoon, the creation of ex-Disney animators Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising, out to give Mickey and Minnie Mouse a run for their money. Bosko and his sweetheart Honey paved the way for MGM's "Merrie Melodies" series as well as the eternal Warner Bros. icons (Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, et. al.). Sure to please collectors, this collection of Bosko's best has been pristinely remastered. Featured cartoons include "Bosko's Holiday," "Bosko Shipwrecked," "Bosko's Soda Fountain," "Bosko at the Zoo," "The Booze Hangs High," "Big-Hearted Bosko," "Bosko and Bruno," "Bosko's Party," "Bosko's Dog Race," "Bosko at the Beach," "Bosko's Store," "Bosko and the Lumberjack," and "Bosko and Honey." The earlier Bosko films, including the 1929 pilot and 1930 "Looney Tunes" debut, are available on Uncensored Bosko Volume 1. The two volumes together form a significant and sensational chapter in animation history, and a particularly funny one at that. Viewer advisory: This DVD is called "uncensored" for a reason. Several of these 1930's shorts contain racial stereotypes that some viewers may find offensive. Tony Nigro

Two mistakes, really. MGM's series was "Happy Harmonies", not Merrie Melodies", though it would be accurate to say that Bosko paved the way for both of them. Also, the prints on the Uncensored Bosko DVDs are hardly "pristine and remastered". They're all public domain, and are full of dirt and scratches. They're still worth owning, IMHO, but there can't ever be a "pristine" collection until WB issues one from their own masters.

There's also a third mistake. The cartoon is called "Bosko the Lumberjack" *not* "Bosko and the Lumberjack". Gee, you'd think the guy in charge of the Early Years page would have caught THAT one :p
