That's very good news.
Hopefully there will be more "Bugs Bunny Show" extras as well as more great stuff.
Can't wait!!

I'd be more interested in seeing an actual list of cartoons. That's when we'll see if WB upgrades the production to being something huge and serious, or downgrades it to Platinum Edition kiddy-aiming trash.
I want to see the list of cartoons too. Besides "Horton Hatches the Egg" and "I Love to Singa", and maybe "Falling Hare", no other titles have been confirmed.

Had those actually been confirmed? I know people were whining about them feeling they were misled or something (because, you know, the list of contents wasn't posted everywhere last summer), but I didn't think there was any official response about those two.

"One Froggy Evening" has been confirmed, "Whats Opera Doc?" hasn't but will probably be on the next set.
Another likely cartoon might be "Dog Gone Cats". Mr. Beck said that a private collector owned the original titles.

I already speculated about the next compilation of shorts, and after my original thread, I revised my list for a more even distribution of recurring characters and one-shots (chronologically, with plenty of Avery). Does this seem reasonable?

I'd like to see some World War II stuff like Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips, or Any Bonds Today, but, unfortunetly, that stuff is politically incorrect, so what are the odds of that?Well, WB COULD release a disclaimer on the front with someone like Leonard Malton or Jerry Beck explaining that these cartoons were made during WWII, yadda-yadda-yadda, they are not meant to offend anyone.
Where'd you get that info??
Jerry Beck confirmed that "Horton" will be on Wave 2, unfortunately, the original titles are lost and it will be the same BR print from the Dr. Seuss DVD. Many people have mentioned "Singa" is a must for Wave 2, so I assume the cartoon will be there.
According to Jerry, "Falling Hare" has already been restored (he even posted a screenshot in his site), so it's likely the cartoon will be released soon.
Jerry also confirmed that the fully restored "Book Revue" will be on future releases with original titles, let's hope wave 2.

Many people have mentioned "Singa" is a must for Wave 2, so I assume the cartoon will be there.Actually, "I Love To Singa" was officially confirmed (as well as "One Froggy Evening") in a newspaper interview with George Feltenstein, who works at Warner Home Video and had a lot to do with the production of the first Golden Collection. See the original post here (http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=1083567&postcount=233).

I know the titles for "Horton" are lost on film, but I heard that the Clampett estate still owns the original title art, so is there any chance that might turn up in the special features?

I'd agree with Oldgreypole, there needs to be a healthy mix of all eras. My real problem with that first collection is that is was pretty scattershot. Not very likely though as they will more than likely concentrate on the characters. But there wasn't enough Road Runner for me or Marvin Martian.

But there wasn't enough Road Runner for me or Marvin Martian.I have a feeling they're going to try to space out the Marvin and Taz shorts since there are so few of each. I'm perfectly okay with that since the Marvin and Taz tapes are still out to tide people over.
Speaking of Road Runner, I'm hoping for more as well. Actually, I'm kind of wishing for some attention to be paid to the oft-ignored 1959-1962 period. Regardless of opinion of quality, I'm still amazed that the Oscar-nominated "Beep Prepared" has yet to be released on home video in the States...and now we're stuck with a murky time-compressed print on CN.

There are two of us in media, those who continue to pull us down by making us stereotypes (rappers and other media idiots) and those who continue to segregate us but know not how to progress us forward (NAACP and other activists who talk too much but don't want to fix anything just complain.).

Come on, WB! Bring on the un-PC toons!:D
But seriously, they really should stop the nonsense of putting their heads in the ground about the cartoons. We know about them. We can't avoid it. It is American history. They bicker about stuff like this and they cover worse stuff such as the KKK and other racist knuckleheads. I know that the cartoons are nowhere near the historial impact of the bigots of the past, but we still should see how we Americans thought and laughed at in the past, even if it is un-PC by today's standards. Sure it'll offend, but then maybe you'll learn something about bigotry and racism, and that it is pure bullplop.
Still, can't wait for the LT GC 2. Hurry WB, HURRY!

I had mentioned this before; I've often wondered what would happen if we showed these un-PC toons to the groups that they would "allegedly offend", and what their reaction would be.
I agree with Stashone that Jones got too much spotlight in wave one. He got half the cartoons (28) of the set, the rest were divided almost equally between Freleng and McKimson, 3 Clampetts, 1 Davis, no Avery, no Tashlin, no Hardaway/Dalton, and no McCabe. They could definitely go with more equally divided cartoons from all the major directors. At least we know there is going to be an Avery cartoon in wave 2.
On the racism issue, they could release "Goldilocks and the Jivin' Bears" which is to me the most tame of the censored 11. I'm pretty sure a lot of people can watch it and enjoy it, or at least not find it offensive, if a proper introduction and disclaimer is placed at the beginning of the film.
We badly need more 30s and 60s cartoon's on the next set. Yes they are not Warners best but later sets will be full of them and won't sell to good. We could have 15 30's cartoons, 15 40's, 15 50's and 15 60's on the next set. Casual WB fans also need to get used to these films and accept them. :bosko:

i was comparing my Treasures sets to the Golden Collection. Why is WB putting so few cartoons on their discs? The complete goofy had almost as many cartoons on only Two discs! I mean im thrilled that we got the 56 the first time around, but with such a large library to try and release you'd think they'd try and get more sets out, or more toons per disc..

The WB set includes more extras that is why there are less cartons. I think there will be 60 cartoons on the next set. Hopefully there will be more than one B&W cartoon this time.

When it comes down which dvd series for the shorts that has been selected between the DISNEY TREASURES and THE LOONEY TUNES GOLDEN COLLECTION, you have to give Disney the major edge of Warner Bros and I'll explain why....
1.Disney releases four DT volumes(two discs per volume) every year
2.The cartoons are totally UNCUT!
3.The DT has no problems putting classic b/w cartoons on their collection.
This will be the "BIGGEST" year for classic cartoon fans between now and the end of the year for home video releases and I think that this second LT collection, will out do the first volume.

I totally agree. They need to include (for example) the Bosko, Buddy and Cool Cat cartoons on future collections, as early as possible. I doubt these cartoons will make it on the wave 2 collection, but I'm hoping there will be a few B&W Porky/Daffy cartoons on the forthcoming box set.
