Tonight's Popeye Show will be the last for awhile. I hope everybody managed to record them all.

Starting next week (Mar. 13):

2am - Toonheads
3am - Chuck Jones
3:30am - Tex Avery
4am - Bugs & Daffy
5am - Tom & Jerry

Nertz! That was their best show, too. At least the Tex Avery Show is back for a while.

What a flop! Why CN not changed Popeye at time? At 5am and 5:30am per example? :o

I hate to see CN drop Popeye, and Boomerang has gone to only using Popeye for occasional filler between other shows. At least CN is bring back the Tex Avery Show. Now if they'd just put them back on Sunday nights...

That's too bad about Popeye. I watch it before I go to bed. Hopefully it isn't off for long. I'll have to make an effort to catch tonights.

NOO!!! I missed several of the episodes! I feel so stupid for missing them!

CN, why must you commit such heinous acts upon us cartoon nuts?

They could have at least waited until all of Season 2 had aired. Some S2 episodes have never been aired a second time. (And yes, most of what I'm missing is S2 episodes.)

(And yes, most of what I'm missing is S2 episodes.)The Season 1 episode with "Happy Birthdaze" in it was only repeated once. I don't think any of the Season 4 episodes (#41-45) ever repeated either, and those included the shows with "The Hungry Goat" and "Big Chief Ugh-Amugh-Ugh." :(

Trust me, it could've been a LOT worse. The original schedule for April was going to have Adult Swim on from 11-5. Yes, it would've been goodbye to all classic cartoons. But they decided to run Toonami from 7-2 instead. Keep in mind that Adult Swim doesn't control these things though. It's just CN's idiotic programmers.

maybe bluto will get a job watching people shoot his drink and ramble on random insults.

Watch, Popeye will go to Boomerang.

Popeye Show, you mean? That wouldn't be bad at all. Popeye Show weekdays, and it's repeated 3 times a day right? That's a far better deal than what CN was giving it.

I just wish that since Lazzo was exec producer on it (and he LOVES Popeye) that he'd have the kind of pull to put Popeye Show on the late hours of Adult Swim weeknights (like 4 am or so) when AS' typical demographic are all asleep.

Well, the downside is that we've lost Popeye, but the plus side is we have Tex Avery again. And you said "the last for awhile." Does this mean that it will return someday?

They had Popeye on the main Boomerang schedule last summer (Not The Popeye Show, just a block of the shorts). They played alot of redrawns and during filler they do as well. I know they did play a B&W or two but I doubt they'll play them as long as they have the redrawns. Which is why it's unfortunate that it's been removed from the CN Schedule. Atleast they could have finished the run. But I'm looking forward to the Tex Avery Show. The non-T&J MGM output has been lacking so atleast It'll mean some of that.

I guess anything is possible, but I doubt we'll be seeing Popeye on CN again anytime soon.

How much you want to bet this is all Kings Features Syndicate's fault, the owners of the characters.

Well, if King Features wanted to make more profits off of Popeye characters, it'd be a repeat of the current Looney Tunes fiasco, but considering the Popeye shorts are public domain or from the Turner library, I doubt King Features takes a cent from CN. I just think it's Jim Samples being a dick.

I also doubt King Features had anything to do with this. This was CN's decision.

Toonheads will be going away soon, too.

It wouldn't be so bad if a lot of the shows of classics were moved over to Boomerang, but except for Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry that isn't happening. At best everything else that used to make up shows like The Acme Hour, the Tex Avery show and Popeye are being used as filler. Boomerang needs to make more time for these cartoons on a regular basis.

I think Boomerang should become a regular cable channel since most of us here don't have it.

It's rough that they're replacing Popeye, but at least it's getting replaced with some classic cartoons that haven't been seen in a long time. It could be much worse.
