I just meant it's a little too late. The cast and producers have all moved on to other projects. If Matt Greoning and David X. Cohen ever feel like doing a movie, they will. But for now our favorite sci-fi/action/comedy/drama is gone.:(

Off the air? Last time I checked, it was still airing on AS.

I think he meant new episodes.
Though I feel that Futurama is among the most overrated cartoons ever, I still like it, and it deserved a couple more years. At least enough to match up with Simpsons' 8-9 good seasons.

Of course I wouldn't say no to more Futurama, but I just don't think it's going to happen... save some miracle

Man, I love Futurama. I know this might sound weird but I feel a strong connection to the characters, something I don't feel while watching the Simpsons. I feel like I've known them for alot longer than the 5 years they were on FOX.
The reason it didn't work on Network TV is because FoX didn't take care of it.. They kept moving it's time slot around.. and then they put it early on Sunday Nights, meaning it got pre-empted by sports a lot, especially during Football season..
Otherwise I think it still would be airing on Fox.. It was a great show.

Well, a lot of people say it's not as good as the Simpsons,
and they're right.
I won't miss it.

I won't miss it.Feh, I feel more for Fry than ever will about Homer Simpson. The concept of TS has been dead in the water for the last 7 seasons. Futurama could always take a new angle with it's concept. Towards the end they were doing really great with the narrative (see: Luck of the Fryish, The Sting, Time Keeps on Slippin', Leela's Homeworld, etc.) The Simpson's these days is always similar to those logs that squeeze out between Mike Scully's butt cheeks.

There have been many episodes of Futurama that have made me get all choked up, most of which were in the 3rd and 4th production seasons. What I liked about Futurama was that there was a chronological narrative following the characters and their actions, something you don't see much in animation. You had the romance between Kif and Amy, the mystery of Leela's origin, the backstory of Fry's lack of a Delta Brain Wave (read: past nastification with his grandmother) and of course the relationship between Fry and Leela that spanned the entire series, from the first episode to the last.
I think a confined main cast of 7 characters forced the Futurama writers to build on the relationship of all the members of the Planet Express crew and produce several important character driven episodes. I can never remember any episodes in which anyone acted out of character, something I see all the time on the Simpsons.
I think everyone who worked on the show dearly loved working on it, and that feeling is obvious when you listen to the audio commentaries on the DVDs. Everyone just seems to have a terrific time together, and it sounds as if Billy West and John DiMaggio were having the time of their lives. You know voice actors love their characters when you hear Billy and John do an entire commentary as Fry and Bender.
God, I love Futurama. It was taken from us too soon.

From the first episode of Futurama to the last it continually did something the Simpsons had never done. Made me like it. No other show ever made "rotflmao" a literal reality for me before or since.
I blieve it was a better show than the Simpsons could ever hope to be and in some alternate universe it and not the Simpsons (which was canceled 6 years ago) continues to carry the banner of comic animation into the future.

Though I feel that Futurama is among the most overrated cartoons ever, I still like it, and it deserved a couple more years. At least enough to match up with Simpsons' 8-9 good seasons.Futurama is by no means overrated, to most people it is The Simpsons' little brother who just couldn't live up to his older bro danggnabbit. It's just not in the public's mind, for some reason the critics kiss The Simpsons' asses constantly and often poo poo Futurama. What even bothers me is that so many people consider the past seven seasons the best, and actually loath the first and best three.
I wish people would realize that Futurama has better animation than The Simpsons ever had. And Futurama was a more risky venture than The Simpsons (which was by no means as ground breaking as people sometimes make it out to be). An adult show that is action at heart is hard to do in the states, Matt made it work. Honestly I like Futurama a lot more than The Simpsons.
Here's hoping we get a Futurama movie.... a Futurama live action movie.... mwahahahaha.

What would a movie of Futurama be about,Leela marring Fry or Zoidberg getting a girl friend and a house(like he could take care of enither one), But then again if they ever make a movie it would more than likey that it would be about Leela and Fry getting togeter with a happy and a funny ending.
What do you know I faced my own question and prove that its a good idea.

What do you know I faced my own question and prove that its a good idea.:sweat:Well I think if they had a movie it should tie up all the loose plot threads. It should involve the Niblonians and the Brains in a last battle where Fry needs to save the universe, I think it is almost certain that Fry and Leela will finally get together and somehow their love or something will be what finally destroys the brains for good... remember she is the other. Honestly I wish The Why of Fry had been the series finale since (despite the fact it didn't feature all the major characters) finally allow Fry to make his own destiny (which was sort of a theme in the first episode) and become the space hero he dreamed of being. I really would like a Futurama live action movie one day... it could work.

I was thinking about this too recently. Zoidberg would look really interesting in live action, as long as they don't lose the simplicity of the design. I think it would be really funny if Bender was done in CGI but looked exactly like he did on the show.
Then again, I don't know if live action would work. I can't see anyone other than Billy West proividing Fry's voice, and a live action Leela would look hideous.
I'm sure if they did make a Futurama movie they'd keep it animated. The way I see it, the final episode presented a "Leela and Fry live happily ever after" type of ending. A final movie/episode would probably revolve around their marriage. Maybe Bender would feel jealous about losing his best friend and either run away or make some sort of scene. Since Bender was going to be Fry's best man, Fry decides (under protest) to allow Zoidberg to do the honors, with hilarious results. :D Of course Bender would come back at the last minute, so life would suck for Zoidberg as usual. I'd also want to see Leela's parents and Kif and Amy's relationship worked in these somewhere.
But I think it would have to end with Nibbler and the Niblonians, satisfied with how the events in the series played out.

Well, a lot of people say it's not as good as the Simpsons,

Please. Futurama goes farther and is more original than any Simpsons episode (except maybe the good ones from season 3-10). Of the four seasons of Futurama, there were only 2 episodes I didn't like. With the Simpsons, we could be here all day talking about which episodes I don't like (to name a few, I don't like: "Homer Goes To College", "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace", "Brawl In The Family", and all of the first and second season, except for "Bart the General", "Bart the Genius", "The Crepes of Wrath", "Two Cars In Every Garage, Three Eyes on Every Fish", the first Christmas special, and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blowfish")

There were several episodes I thought were just "okay" but I feel there's always something to enjoy in every episode. I don't think there are any outright bad episodes of Futurama.
I'm not fond of "That's Lobstertainment" and "The Route of all Evil". Then again, according to the audio commentary on the DVD a lot of people don't like "That's Lobstertainment".
I was left cold on "Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV", "Bend Her" and "Obseletely Fabulous" for a long time since FOX had the braindead idea to run three Bender episodes in a row. I like Bender and all but three in a row is a little much.
And I guess I'm one of those few people who actually like "300 Big Boys".

I hope they will make a Futurama movie...I think the cast has a contract to do a movie. And I like some eps. of Futurama more than the Simpsons but I like the Simpsons more.

While I do not approve of the FOX network's abysmal mistreatment of this show, I do think that "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" was a wonderful way to end the series. I just don't think it should have happened this early. "Futurama" had the potential to be as big as "The Simpsons", but for some reason, FOX didn't want it to be. I can never forgive the network for intentionally murdering the show like this (putting it in a dead-end time slot where it can always get pre-empted, airing far too few episodes per season, never advertising it in order to make the ratings drop, etc.). I just thank God for the DVDs.

We all know who the REAL culprit here is: Football! If they would play a little faster and have a few less commercials we wouldn't have the preemptions! Eh... Fox would've found SOMETHING to preempt Futurama anyway.

Also, unlike the Simpsons, Futurama didn't have an established (habitual) audience and the writers HAD to try harder, or they'd be out of jobs. With the Simpsons, the writers could have Homer breaking wind for 22 minutes in front of a brick wall and the majority of the fans would say it was the 'best episode ever.'
