well comicbook movies have been increasing in quality lately. perhaps video game movies can finally get it right, too. and what better game to start getting it right with than Soul Calibur?

I'm not familiar with producer Warren Zine, except that I disliked American Pie, Cats & Dogs, and Final Destination. Hopefully Soul Calibur breaks the trend.

eh. i don't know. i love the game but if they make a movie out of it, they shouldn't base it exactly off of soul calibur 2. for instance, they could tell the story of say mitsurugi or kilik or somebody else, but if the movie is about warriors coming from all over the globe to find a weapon called soul edge, no thanks. although, if it has link in it, i'll see it :)

Crap.
I saw some of the earlier rumors where Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan were going to work on this film (Chan was supposed to play Hwang, Chinese soldier searching the world for Soul Edge) but now that a dumbass producer like this guy has it?
It's gonna suck.

If it were made into a movie, I hope it wouldn't be made into a cheesy John Woo esque action movie with uneccessary explosions, or a crappy Jackie Chan martial arts movie. I think it would be great if it were taken seriously as a fantasy film. Video game adaptaions do not equal cheesy B movie action flicks. I hope the people involved in this film will get that through their head.

well comicbook movies have been increasing in quality lately. I certainly hope you're not including DareDevil or Hulk in that group.
Don't forget, they're also looking at Dungeon Siege as a movie translation, as well. ::sighs::

Well this could go either way. It could be as bad as Street Fighter, or as good as the first Mortal Kombat movie. Hopefully it will go the way of Mortal Kombat.

Are these the same guys who are, supposedly, making a Metroid movie? *double-checks* Yup, sure is. I doubt we'll see anything come thru on this either. Still, the idea of a Soul Caliber movie does spark the imagination.
What I said for the prophecized Metroid movie, I'll say for the SC movie summarized: It could not only be done, there's so much potential there that it could be a truly wonderful and epic production. Tons of characters, lots of depth, a mood all its own, and what it doesn't have in canon, they can reinterprate and add in.
But I still doubt the capabilities of the creators. I doubt they could beat what I'm imagining. *continues to dream about Samus's first meetings with the Chozo and Adam Malkovich, a cinematic sacrifice of the last Metroid, a horde of Metroids consuming a planet's population, Ridley... being Ridley...* Oh yeah, Soul Caliber movie... *dreams some more*
