I love my comic book shop! :anime: Wedding Peach is coming out next Tuesday, but they had it on the shelf when I went in today! I've just finished listening to the first episode dubbed, and I'm very pleased with the cast. The only character whose casting I disagree with was Aphrodite - she comes across as an older, mature sounding lady in the Japanese version - but she is a minor character so that doesn't really bother me.

I need to get Vols. 2 & 3 of Haibane Renmei - the guy at the shop said they are trying to get more copies of those volumes, so I think I'll wait until they get them in. He suggested that I watch the bonus features, especially the "got feathers?" bit.

Yes-- in the early days of the Anime Forum there was initially some debate over whether manga discussion should go here or the Comics Forum, but everyone quickly agreed that this was the proper place, and although I don't tend to post new manga releases when I start the monthly thread, you're more than welcome to discuss them. (By the way, if anyone WOULD like me to start posting new manga release dates along with the animeondvd.com data, kindly point me to a reliable web site that lists them and I'd be happy to do so-- so far there hasn't been any overwhelming demand for it, but I'm by no means opposed to the idea.)

Hmmm I have no idea of reliable websites....I work for a comic store so I get all my info from Previews Magazine and what the suppliers send us.

Anyways, last week I picked up GTO vol 17 and Saiyuki vol 1, both of which I highly recommend. GTO was just amazing, I had to force myself to read it slowly because I was so desperate to find out what happened! Saiyuki is interesting, I'm definitely going to continue with is, especially as it's only a 9 vol series which means I won't have to wait years and years to finish the set(like Dragonball! 6 years and counting now)

Nahhh. He's just refering to the fact that everything Right Stuff sends is in a box. Alot of people get a box from them every week due to their insane weekly specials. Like Arua Battle Dunbine 1 and Agelic Layer 1, each with the art box, for 15 bucks each plus shipping.

Just picked up the re-release of the first volume of "Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind".

All I can say is...wow. It's unflipped, sound-effects are not overlayed, it's bigger than the Perfect Collections, and the ink used isn't just black and white but also has varying shades. Compared to the Perfect Collections, this new version blows the previous version away. It also has a full color map and the original essay writteby Hayao Miyazaki. It's shorter than the first volume of the Perfect Collections, but that's only because Viz is releasing the series in the same number of volumes as in Japan.

Wedding Peach Memories - I won this CD on eBay a couple of days ago, so it isn't hasn't arrived yet. I'm looking forward to this as it has BGM from the anime. I have the two Music Bouquet CDs and I recommend them if you are a fan of Wedding Peach and like the BGM.

Sailor Moon: The Full Moon Collection - This is the third release of music from the DiC dub. There are some repeats of songs from the previous two CDs, some remixes, and some BGM tracks from the dub. My favourite remixes were the S.A.F remixes of "My Only Love" and the "Sailor Moon Theme".

Manga

Forbidden Dance, Vol. 1 by Hinako Ashihara - I saw at this bookstore, and I thought it looked interesting. Doing some research online, I found out that the original name of the series was Tenshi no Kisu ("Angel's Kiss"). Here's a synopsis from the back of the book:



When a young girl named Aya loses her confidence to dance, she fears she'll never set foot on the stage again. But then she sees Akira and the COOL ballet troupe perform, and everything changes. Akira inspires her to pursue her dream and dance again. Soon, her primary goal is to join the COOL ballet troupe. She's never wanted anything more in her life! There's only one problem: COOL is an all-male dance troupe, and Aya is 100% female. But so what if she's missing a Y chromosome? I picked up the second volume of the Fruits Basket manga yesterday. The second half of it was sooo depressing. ;.;

I finally bought Abenobashi Volume 3. As usual it remains very funny. And I also bought the Galaxy Angel Manga Volume 1. The manga is worlds apart from the anime. But it is still a comedy series. Just with a bit more serious parts and a few more characters. I like the manga slightly better than the anime.

found and got the YuGiOh Battle City Duel DVDs: Esp Duelist and Master of Magicians @ Best Buy.

(with KWB always airing the finals and Virtual World and CTN airing Duelist Kingdom over and over, its nice to see these episodes again)

Oh yeah and by the way, both dvds have 4 eps. on each, so if you're a fan and collecting, they're worth it.

Can't wait for the june releases, they're probably two of the best from Battle City (Mime Control and Double Duel)

I got the R.O.D OVA and Newtype April 2004. R.O.D was extremely fun and entertaining. It is as good as everyone says. And the disc in Newtype was good. Azumanga Daioh dub is great by my standards. Although I was dissappointed by the dub of Comic Party.
